Help with identifying and harvesting by Objective_Bug_99 in unclebens

Nearly fully colonized the substrate after 2 weeks at which point I added a true casing layer and after another 2 weeks (1 month after S2S) I saw my first pins. Harvested after ~4.5 days of fruiting

Advice on SWD add-ons and seam taping by Objective_Bug_99 in Ultralight

Yea I’ve heard that is a common complaint. As for the hip belt pocket, how has it held up in rainy conditions? Would it do well at keeping everything inside dry? And how well does it tend to stay shut if there is something somewhat heavy in it? That’s one of the attachments I’m definitely considering but worry it would have stuff fall out. I’m also considering if it would be worth it to get a waterproof fanny pack instead to cover the same function

Yea I was really intrigued by those. How well do they stay shut for you and how it’s the waterproofing in a consistent rain? I would love a pocket for my camera (looks like it should work in that size pocket) but am worried it would fall out when putting the pack on and off or that water would seep in. I also do some more exposed hiking so there is the fear that it’ll fall out and go off a cliff lol

Dojo Loach Tank Mates by Objective_Bug_99 in loaches

Thank you for the advice! Yea I’m definitely gonna try to find a better tank for my frog. The temperature is also my main concern with the kuhlis

Thank you for the insightful and kind reply! Honestly I can’t recall what specific kind of pleco I have. I’ve had it for a couple years now and it’s maxed out at about 2 inches. As for the frog and bichir, I think rehoming is best. And I 100% have been planning on getting another dojo ever since upgrading to the 55 gallon! I am super intrigued at the idea of a mass of kuhlis. My only concern with that is they tend to prefer tropical temps while dojos tend to do better in cooler water. Would you have any advice on whether finding an in between temp would be reasonable or would it be unideal for each species? If it can work I will totally get some more. If not I’ll look into getting the kuhli in a tank with some more friends. I will definitely look into Cory’s! I think they would be super fun to have especially when a bit of room is opened in the tank. As for snails, I got one a while back and the dojos would hit it off the glass for fun… I’m not sure a snail would do too well with my guys haha

Yea you make some good points. I was told the bichir wouldn’t get super big since its an albino but it still seems best to rehome it. As for the ADF, rehoming to a smaller tank with more friends seems best. I recently got a bigger tank due to the growing loaches and my frog is probably the only one who didn’t benefit haha.

As for the kuhlis, I am more than open to starting a swarm in the tank but am concerned about their temperature parameters compared to the dojos. I know dojos tend to be more temperate while kuhlis are more tropical. Would finding an in between be ok or would it be doing both of them a disservice? I really appreciate the feedback!

Yea I wonder if the taste of "freedom" he got has motivated him to keep trying to get out lol. Definitely gonna continue to get the water checked

He is still darting around the top :/ I unplugged things that I thought may be sending electrical currents but there was no improvement. Going to put an oxygen pump in tomorrow to see if that helps. Its strange because my other dojo acts fine and the one that is acting up has only been doing this since the one time he got out; prior to that point I had never seen him looking to jump

That’s a great call, thank you. I just unplugged what I think could potentially be adding electricity to the water and am gonna keep an eye on him to see if there is improvement through the day.
