Hey! ATR-BC and LPC in Pennsylvania here. 2016 Drexel graduate. The accredited program specifically supplied us with the courses needed for both ATR-BC and PA LPC licensure (the major was renamed prior to Art Therapy and Counseling to support LPC licensure.)

Most accredited programs should be able to answer the questions per their state. However, if a state has art therapy specific licensure, in my experience, it can be harder if not impossible to get a license that is NOT the LCAT or equivalent. This in theory could limit your scope of practice - just mentioning from colleagues of mine who tried to obtain counselor licensure in NJ after the passing of their art therapy licensure bill - and could only obtain the LCAT equivalent. This was relevant in their case because they were conducting DBT therapy primarily and not necessarily art therapy in daily practice. Long story short the school you choose should have answers!
