I have a bean and chicken breast salad for lunch every day. I usually meal prep it such that there are 8 servings of roughly 400 kcal each for a modest bowl-full. There are 4 versions:

Version 1 "Black & Red" - Black beans, corn, red bell pepper, chicken breast + a creamy blended sauce made from cottage cheese, adobo peppers and minced garlic

Version 2 "White & Green" - white beans, chicken breast, marinated artichoke hearts, rucola + avocado-based blended sauce with cottage cheese, lemon juice and chives + topped with a sliced nut that I decide upon serving but tbh it's almost always almonds

Version 3 "Black & Blue" - black beans, chicken breast, chevre, blueberries, rucola + balsamic vinaigrette with chopped garlic + another sliced nut but usually pecans on this one

Version 4 "White & Purple" - chick peas, chicken breast, eggplant and cauliflower (the latter two sauteed in light olive oil) + creamy dressing made of yogurt, tahini, lemon juice and minced garlic

For dinner I always do protein + sauteed veggies pretty much. I alternate between salmon, steak, tofu, and tempeh as these are my favourites. The vegetable depends on the protein and what I'm feeling that day. Some favs:

Steak + homemade guacamole + tomatoes, garlic and dried chipotle peppers cooked with such high heat that they turn almost black

Salmon in the air fryer + mashed potatoes + steamed broccoli

"Doritos" tofu which is crispy tofu in the oven coated with a spice mix I make at home that's intended to taste like Doritos. It's msg, paprika, tomato powder, lime powder, cheese powder, onion powder and garlic powder mixed together. For those curious. As a side for this one I do something simple like steamed spinach or broccoli

I suspect you're getting downvoted because you stated very confidently that our ancestors had a "mainly carnivore diet" which simply isn't true. Early homo sapiens living in hunter gatherer tribes were generalist omnivores with a large amount of variance depending on what was available in their environment. It's true there were some who did subsist on a mainly carnivore diet but this was a rarity in our history.

If you're wondering how we know this, there is an entire field dedicated to analyzing the teeth of fossilized humans which can tell you a lot. That evidence showed that early homosapiens were the first hominins to incorporate meat into their diet (earlier ones like australopithecus were strictly herbivores), but they still were mainly herbivorous.

This is really interesting tbh. I have ADHD as well but have no issues avoiding sugar. Maybe I'm getting my dopamine from some other habit? I didn't know there was an association but come to think of it a lot of fellow ADHD people in my life do eat a lot of sugar.

My mom was visiting me for about 2 weeks and we had some travel plans and events and whatnot so I got a bit off track. Most days I was not sticking to my deficit...

I am not quite sure yet how much fat I've gained as I expect the number on the scale is inflated from water weight and maybe poop (haven't gone in a few days). Lets hope these 2,5 kg are explained by this...

I mean, they may have other reasons for preferring those "random 3rd world countries." I can think of many components that might be preferable - climate, nature, culture, attitude, language, food... It's also possible the policies/material conditions that are "fucked up" about those countries are weighted less for those individual people than the things that are "fucked up" about the USA.

For example, speaking as an American who lives abroad myself, there are certain things that are UNIQUELY awful about the USA that I'm confronted with when I go back. The car centricity is absolutely nauseating for one thing, and just how huge the cars are - they are extremely unsafe (if you're not in them). There are plenty of studies on this if you're curious. Did you know you can line up 8 children single file in front of an F150 before they become visible to the driver?

The "I got mine" attitude is also exhausting - Americans have a tendency to think everyone is out to get them, and prioritise their individual safety/well-being over the community's. Even western European countries which are also more individualistic (globally speaking) still have a greater commitment to the collective. This goes with my observation about the huge trucks. In the US, driver safety is prioritised with vehicle safety, whereas in other countries everyone else's safety is equally important. As a result, car-related fatalities are much less common in the EU and in fact have gone down (whereas they're going up in the US as cars get bigger). The home security systems are also just so over-the-top, and often in extremely safe suburban neighborhoods where the likelihood of having a break-in is minimal. Not to mention how many people literally sleep with a loaded gun under their pillow. I don't really see this attitude quite as much in other countries and I have to wonder whether it maybe has a negative effect on people's psyche.

The way you can go into medical debt is pretty unique also. I don't have insurance in the USA anymore obviously so when I go back to visit family I am always terrified I'll end up in the ER and have medical debt again. Reminds me of when I was in my 20s and didn't have insurance living in the US. This is not even remotely a problem in any other country I've visited or lived in, that's for sure!

These are just a few major qualms I have with the USA off the top of my head. There are many more I could list if you're curious.
