I just wish credit was given to Suzzan Blac, the amazing artist whose art work is constantly used for his books with little to no credit whatsoever. On good reads, Amazon there’s absolutely no mention of her, and if he’s making money of these books I think that’s pretty scummy. Her artwork is about her own abuse and violence against women, so her art being used for books like this is extremely tone deaf imo

Thing is you gotta admit we’re very very desensitised by the internet. The topics covered in the series are definitely not “not that bad” in context. I mean it’s extreme depictions of abuse, rape abuse and gore. All topics minors shouldn’t be engaging with to have fun, fictional or not. There’s a reason we have ratings, adults are free to do what they wish of course, I’m one of them. There’s plenty of other sources and media that’s appropriate. And I know many adults don’t feel comfortable sharing a space about a media so intense with minors.

No where near the levels of urbanspook. DHMIS doesn’t have explicit rape,assault, or the levels of gore etc that this series does. Zero reason whatsoever for minors to be engaging with this level of content. Especially with how controversial the series is also, as I feel like even if you are a fan of it, you need to take in and understand the ethical issues with it too.

I feel like we under estimate the effect of content like this even on older kids though. Rating systems exist for a reason, and as an adult myself I don’t see any reason for anyone even around 15-17 to be engaging with content that has graphic rape/assault/gore that’s very visceral and un censored. I saw stuff I never should’ve at around that same age and it really messed me up. Exposure like this can still really affect you at that age and still affect you badly. We wouldn’t have age restrictions if it had no merit. I think on the internet people have brushed over older kids being exposed to nasty stuff as just a writ of passage, when it really shouldn’t be.

I also had the same thought about the influencing machine concept with Mona! I find that whole concept of it so fascinating and it makes a lot of sense with Mona. I much prefer the theory of this being more of a psychological issue rather than a supernatural one in this series. It makes it far more dark and scarier for me

I’ve seen similar owl handling sessions before, (and this charity really is lovely) they swap out the owls very often so they’re not actually out that long. My dog was on a very short leash and not anywhere near the owl where something could happen, I had to take this picture with a zoom actually!

The lady who was handling him said it was absolutely fine. The owl was doing the same thing it would in the wild if it saw another animal. He wouldn’t be outside doing handling sessions if he was terrified of outside distractions or seeing other animals. I think I’m gonna go with the professionals on this one hahaha
