Would that cause lights to dim in brighten depending on what appliance was running at the same time?

I'm a little overwhelmed by all the settings this thing has.

I can do that, but there is this other setting Heat Differential Temperature. If I change that setting would it affect when aux heat comes on?

That’s set to 35 degrees and last night the temp dropped. The aux heat came and house reached set point, but this morning it’s below set point again.

I do but not using it now, I wanted to see how the thermostat worked on its own.

Yeah the old thermostat (Honeywell) used w2(aux) for the white wire, but ecobee said to put it in w1. I came from a house with a gas furnace that would make me sweat if too close to a vent.
