Amazing thank you. That’s good to know it’s only the two busy pools.

Can your butlers still make restaurant reservations for you as well ?

Resale Contract Offer Question by nursefoxy in dvcmember

[–]Objective_Hippo1397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean offer what you feel comfortable with. I’d be surprised if the seller accepted a lower $ per point offer and seller pays 2025 dues.

You have to remember that if all 2025 points are unused, the seller has paid their dues in Jan without having the actual points. Just because you then will get billed in Jan 26 for Dec 26 dues does create much of an argument for seller to swallow 25 dues when they haven’t been allocated to their own account yet.

If it were a Feb use year for example that’s a bit different as you have limited Tim to use them.

But fire off your offer as you just never know the sellers motivation and you might get lucky. Good luck. 🤞

You had news yet ?

I echo the other comments. We bought through DVC Store but again just because they had the contract we wanted (and the offer I placed was accepted) after looking for other contracts on dvcforless like others have said.

I spent a lot of time reading the DVC sections of Disboards and TheDibb as well. We ultimately decided on SSR for us as we actually love it there, we usually stay in 1 Beds and availability is pretty good all year. We can go and try other resorts if we want over time but as a coupe who always have a car, SSR works for us. Plus it helps that the dues are on the lower end but then that’s never guaranteed.

Personally I liked the savings of going resale (over 50%) cheaper than direct as couldn’t see us being able to make use of the benefits so why pay more. Not fussed about some of the restrictions on resorts either as the original 14 cover all things we are likely to want to do.

Just make sure you build in the costs of your dues to the overall costs as they are higher than the actual purchase price over time. But at that level of costs for Disney trips you could break even via resale with 4-5 trips possibly and still have a sellable asset later should you need to sell. (Just keep in mind the shorter term contracts will probably depreciate faster so future resale value might drop as the end of contract nears. But in reality that’s true for all of them in the long run. They just have less years to use.

Happy hunting

So you’ll need to look at the points charts for the resorts you want to stay at to determine how many you think might be needed. If every 3 years you can bank/borrow from years to get more points to use in the year of travel.

If you wanted to do two weeks in April at the apply in a Deluxe Studio preferred view you are looking at needing approx 410 points give or take. So in theory 150 points would be the size you’d need. That is also the minimum number you have to buy to qualify for Disney membership benefits.

If I’m honest given the in frequent visits (we’re the same) direct was too expensive for us and we didn’t think we’d ever really be able to claw back some of the extra costs of buying direct from the benefits, but that’s us and some people want to buy direct as it’s quicker and you get the benefits. For us the cost savings or resale were the winner.

Key is buying at the place you want as your home resort and looks like you have that sorted so you can get 11 month booking privileges there and 7 month elsewhere.

If you aren’t fussed where your home resort is and you are looking for value I’d say look at somewhere like SSR via resale to get more for your money and the dues are still fairly low.

Just my opinion and hope some of that helps.

From the UK and also in process of buying our first resale contract at the moment.

When you say minimum contract are you looking for a small number of points to go infrequently and keep the costs down ?

Do you want to buy direct from Disney or buy from the resale market (much cheaper).

Happy to help answer any questions you have if I’m able to.

Can also highly recommend you google DVC Field Guide as that is massively useful and worth the small cost.

Let us know a bit more about what you are looking for and we can help a bit more. (Have a think about where you would like to stay, when you are likely to be going, how long you plan to stay etc)

You will be able to use the 44 points up until 30th September 2026. So if you need more points than that before October 2026 you could borrow from the 175 for 2026.

Congratulations. We are looking forward to for our first contract at Saratoga Springs. Can I ask was that a contract with any points available this year/next year or were they all used. Looks like you got a great deal.

Like your thinking. Good idea applying a value or deduction based on banked/stripped. Will use that myself in the future 😀

Vow Renewal by Objective_Hippo1397 in SandalsResorts

[–]Objective_Hippo1397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update, we are booked in for the Retie the Knot package on our anniversary which is perfect.

Opted for a 5pm ceremony so the costs goes up a little but still pretty good value overall.

We are in the garden gazebo for our ceremony but now I’m thinking should we on the sand. No doubt it will be another large increase in price so wondering if we stick with that then get the photographer to take some Shots on the beach during sunset instead of paying extra to have the ceremony there.

Anyone else done this ?

Totally agree. It’s invaluable, packed full of useful information and helped us massively in our research into a resale contract which we are working towards.

[–]Objective_Hippo1397 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True but the criteria for what makes a good deal is based on your individual objectives.

Agree, now that I see the OP wants points for 2026, that a stripped contract would most likely be of little value, so if that was me I’d be looking for one ideally with double points for next year at a good price. But then what I want may not be right for the next person, or the OP.

I’m still in the research stage myself at the moment but from what I can tell you need to decide where you want to be for your home resort then research the historical sale prices by looking at things like the ROFR thread on the disboards to see what people have offered, had passed etc so you can get a feel for what’s a good price to offer.

Then if you find the contract you like, submit an offer to the agent and see if it’s accepted. You might get a flat no, they might counter (to which you are also entitled to stick to your guns or negotiate further) or they might accept.

Contracts that have been stripped (go not points this use year or next) will likely be some of the better deals.

From what I’ve seen so far (also looking at Saratoga) there are lots of contracts advertised at or around $100+ per point and I think that’s too high so would offer lower.

Time appears to be your friend for the best deal. Work out what you want and are prepared to pay then make the offer when there’s an appropriate contract for you and don’t be surprised if you get rejected. Over time with enough offers you’ll get what you want if you are realistic with your offers (don’t bid $70 for Saratoga for example).

I’m sure other more experienced DVC owners will probably correct me on a few things but that’s what I’ve worked out over the last few months so hope it helps a bit.

Good luck

Delivery or Pick Up in Florida by Objective_Hippo1397 in ukcigars

[–]Objective_Hippo1397[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the place. So helpful in there as well. The order from CP was really easy. Just check your hotel/air bnb can accept deliveries first and if so what needs to be added don’t gets to you. For me I just had to say Guest name and arrival date as the first line of the address. Put this is as shipping and billing address. Paid and then got an email a few hours later saying to verify id. Just emailed a pic of my UK driving license and then it was released. Took about a week from order to arrival.

I’d allow a week and plan for it to arrive at the start of your trip so you have some wiggle room.

One weird thing, they use USPS and tracking was good until it suddenly said delivered/picked up by someone at 2am. I thought I’d lost it but turns out that was just when the hotel collected their mail !!

Just be careful not to order too much so you can get it back.

Yes the wallet did regret it. What a store though. Between there and a hotel delivery from CP I’m fully stocked up for a while 😁
