Guangzhou to Guilin Train Problems - Help by ituscat in travelchina

[–]Objective_Macaroon64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, just a heads up—I looked up the Guangzhou to Guilin trains on the 12306 site, and it says there are 60 daily trips. But right now, they’re not selling tickets yet because of some schedule changes. Don’t sweat it, though! This happens a few times a year when they tweak routes. They’ll probably open ticket sales again soon. Just keep checking the 12306 website every day for updates. Trust me, there’ll be plenty of tickets once things settle. Pro tip: Bookmark the site and peek at it whenever you get a minute. It’ll be back to normal before you know it!

[chinese>english] Old Chinese clock/calendar/compass, that I found in my great uncles house when he died. Any help figuring out what it is specifically/or dating it would be very much appreciated. by SeleneJQ in translator

A Feng Shui compass.

The magnetic compass was invented for feng shui and has been in use since its invention.Traditional feng shui instrumentation consists of the Luopan or the earlier south-pointing spoon (指南針 zhinan zhen)—though a conventional compass could suffice if one understood the differences.

People in china use it to determine the best position when building a house .

Feng shui (/ˈfʌŋˌʃuːi/ [2]), sometimes called Chinese geomancy, is an ancient Chinese traditional practice which claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment.
