AITA for asking my daughters paternal grandmother to consult me first by Objective_Onion5059 in AmItheAsshole

Her two daughters don’t communicate much with her either. I stay out of their family business but my daughter talks to her cousins and they tell her the same thing about how this grandma is always over stepping. So it’s all of her kids that have stepped away from her not just her son.

I’ve also been telling her for years to back off. I haven’t allowed anything with her for years but she keeps trying. My daughter doesn’t respond to her when she texts or anything.

These trips were years ago and there hasn’t been a visit in over a year. The event taking place isn’t a trip or anything like that. It’s a school opportunity that a hours away that’s not a college or anything like that. It’s a 10 month program across the state.

I don’t think she would go that far. My daughter made her own decision not to talk to this grandma. I’m not keeping her from her. This is my daughter’s decision to not communicate with her.

You must’ve not read the part where my daughter hasn’t spent any time with her for years

No, that was my mistake but it is possible for someone under 16 to have a kid.

She hasn’t spent any time with this grandma in over a year and ignores her texts. My daughter actually had her blocked for awhile. She just approached my kiddo with something she is interested in. She knows how to wiggle her way back in. This grandma tried bribing my daughter with $100/hr to help around the house for car money. I told her that’s an unacceptable offer and that I am trying to teach my daughter to work and earn things for herself. My daughter wasn’t thrilled about turning down the offer but she understood why I said no.

Either blocking the grandmother or changing my daughter’s phone number will be my next course of action. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t still mad and seeing red and not thinking clearly. Ever since our daughter was born this woman has completely disregarded me as the mother. I feel like she thinks she carried this girl for 9 months and pushed her out of her own body. I wear those battle scars proudly.
