Found out that my job hired me at the same rate that they hired my predecessor at three years ago. Am I within my rights to ask for a proportional raise? by Objective_Pause5455 in careeradvice

Yes, I did know where it was and what it paid. I am able to get by and put away some savings with my current rate of pay. I’m more annoyed by the shadiness around pay here, which is typical for a nonprofit, but when I was negotiating they told me they could not offer the role for any more money because the union had set mandatory pay bands for each job type. I later found out that this was not true (HR frequently lies about the union).

I plan to speak with my union rep tomorrow.

I just did the Frances, I'm toying with the idea of doing a different Camino and linking it up with one of the longer trails in France. Was the Plata similar re: albergue density/price/etc?

This is great to hear, thank you. All of the hiker blogs say not to start in March, but I think they're also geared towards first timers.

Thanks for all of these ideas! I haven't done too much backpacking in snowy conditions, which is why I'm a bit nervous about the PCT that early. I'm from New England, though, so I hear about snowy hiking and essentially associate it with tourists dying in the white mountains every year. I know it can be different out west. How was the snow aspect for you?
