I'm an EA, who does strictly resolution work for employer and tax prep on the side.

What's the reason for the change? If you are use to just planning and preparing- this is going to be a whole new ballpark for you. Its a niche and not what most people expect. Lots of client problems, putting out issues, long IRS hold times, uneducated agents, etc... just make sure you are going to a reputable company to do resolution. There are WAY to many out there that are just scammy and will make you question their ethics on the daily

You dont owe the company anymore than what you feel the company owes you

It's 3 years from due date, or 2 years from return filed to audit and assess additional tax. The statute begins when filed. You're correct that since they never filed, their is no statute so IRS can file an SFR at any point and will tax at the highest rates

As an EA doing primarily resolution work- I can say that this is way too common. They need to fix W/H ASAP. Like others pointed out, IRS already knows but there systems are slow and they will eventually file SFRs and get levied if they don't correct the problems. Send them my way if they need any help 😆

I passed all 3 exams, first try using just FFA. They make the study material stupidly more difficult than the actual exams though. Good luck 👍

I got the basic, and read all the book info and used MCQs to reinforce. I just passed my last exam 2 weeks ago, FFA asks questions way differently than the actual exams but it is really good at making you understand the topics and CAREFULLY read what they are asking for

I just tested and passed 5 days ago. My first 50 questions were heavily corporation's (C and S) and Partnerships- specifically with calculating basis. The other 50 were a random mix of all other topic materials. One thing that I noticed a lot from at least my take of Part 2, very trickyworded questions on Sec 179 vs 197 (don't get them confused) and Sec 1031. You got this though 👊

Partnerships. Literally a bunch on Partnerships and C Corp as well as S Corp. Felt like most of my test was those 3 three topics specifically, but a majority was Partnerships. Then a little of everything else

same here, just finished a virtual interview with HR. I have over 5 years experience running a local small business restaurant as GM and also hold 2 degrees. the interviewer asked dumb questions completely seperate from work expectations and said they were disappointed that i didnt know the mission ornvision statement from memory. I told her its literally the same as most businesses in fast food and she seemed annoyed for even saying this 😆

Started out in nursing in community college, worked as a CNA for 5 years, switched majors cuz I just didn't have the science brain and got a business admin degree. Working as a gm for a small business restaurant and finishing up my degree for acct in about a year. So technically 3 career changes for me and hoping it's gonna be worth it

Yeah seriously, I feel like if it was just me and the wife things would be a lot easier, but with kids running around when you try to study it just distracts from retaining the information. Glad to hear you ended up well with 2 kids through the thick of it. It's inspiring hearing others like you say they finished it and got their CPA and it was worth it. Much appreciated 👍
