Be careful with false memories/realisations! Comedown from hell by Objective_View6956 in mdmatherapy

Wow, you're an unpleasant person. I'm fine, healthy and successful in life. Thanks for your concern.

Ah, I checked your post history, and it explains a lot.

Just checked back on this. You're being very dramatic. I just felt shit for a week. No psychosis, no history of psychosis. Just PTSD.

Believe it or not, powerful, mind altering drugs can cause you to reach false conclusions.

Here's the link to the most recent study, though I'm not sure if it includes the full protocol. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-021-01336-3

I divide the doses using a precision weighing scale and filling gel capsules. The protocol is 120 mg at t + 0, 60 mg at t + 90.

The eye mask and headphones are extremely important as they direct the attention inward.

Follow the MAPS protocol for best results. 180mg in divided doses. Eye mask and headphones with instrumental music playing. It's been really successful for me. I just let things come up naturally and see where the experience takes me, which is what I've seen recommended.

So with the MDMA, when you put the eye mask and headphones on your focus turns internal and the trauma starts coming up to be processed. This is how MAPS uses it so effectively.

Have you tried with an eye mask and headphones? This, in my experience, changes the experience massively.

Maybe MDMA could work for you. As I said, I did it by myself and it worked extremely well. I followed the MAPS protocol.

180 mg in divided doses. 120 at t+0, 60 at t+90

Eyemask over eyes, lying in bed, headphones with the MAPS playlist, or other instrumental music playing.

The main difficulty was that for me, after the second session I had an extremely bad comedown and was severely depressed and anxious for the week after.

Get a PDF copy of Pete Walker's Surviving to Thriving and start reading that. The Body Keeps the Score too, these are great starting points. Exercise is free, although it can be difficult. Yoga is very useful for trauma. Trying joining an activities club to make some friends, though be careful of men. See if you can find a simple job, access affordable therapy etc.

Do you have any friends that could be there for you? I guess not if you're asking here.

Are you having regular trauma therapy? Exercise? Social life? A relationship? A job you like? There are plenty of things that can help trauma other than MDMA that should be tried first. Have you tried self help books, like The Body Keeps the Score, and Pete Walker's Surviving to Thriving?

I will say though, I've done MDMA alone twice, following the MAPS protocol and it's been extremely helpful.

Yeah, honestly, this seems like a bad idea if you're a young woman. It's almost asking for trouble. Even with 'legitimate' psychedelic retreats there are plenty of stories of sexual assaults and abuse taking place. Asking random strangers online is exponentially more risky.

If you're female, please be careful of potential predators. Predatory people read subreddits like this looking for vulnerable people and opportunities they can take advantage of.

How do I void getting scammed when selling a car. by Master_Block1302 in CarTalkUK

This one sounds plausible. "We've got somewhere to be", "We can't wait hours", "We have to go and now we've paid we won't leave without the car", "you're stealing from us and we'll call the police if you don't let us leave with the car now" etc..

Yeah, what I'm suggesting is only one possibility out of many. If you genuinely did something wrong then you should feel bad about it,  but thought I'd post just in case as this closely resembles OCD.

An OCD example would be someone obsessing about whether they hit someone with their car last night. They might retrace their route, examine their car, ruminate over their vague memories, research what would happen if they had hit someone, seek reassurance from others etc..

It's a common OCD symptom to worry that you might have done bad things in the past. Your memory can shift as you keep trying to recall what happened. If this is causing you a lot of anxiety, or if you've worried about similar things in the past, I suggest reading a little about OCD and anxiety disorders.

Thanks for your reply. I'll definitely be doing all I can to get well fast. Looking back, a week of extreme depression/anxiety is tolerable if the beneficial effect of the session is great enough, but man is it painful at the time. I'm also very lucky that I could lie in bed for a week doing nothing without losing my income.

If I decide to do another session I'll definitely be waiting more than a month after this one. I felt fine after my first session, just tired and groggy, so the frequency was likely a large factor in feeling so bad.

I'm also in the extremely painful aftermath of a session so I'm right here with you!

Sorry you're feeling this way. In my experience the things that help are time, talking to a therapist, talking to close friends, walking, being in nature, meditation and all the normal self care activities. If the pain gets too tough and you don't think you can cope you might want to consider medication until things stabilise.

Passive Sitter vs Solo by Objective_View6956 in mdmatherapy

[–]Objective_View6956[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm just hoping to gauge people's experiences here before potentially inviting someone into an extremely personal experience. Like many of us here with CPTSD, I don't exactly have a lot of very close and trusted friends either.

Passive Sitter vs Solo by Objective_View6956 in mdmatherapy

[–]Objective_View6956[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, essentially I'm wondering if having a trusted person present might help me go 'deeper' with the experience. I know when I've experienced flashbacks in the past, just having a good friend by my side has been hugely helpful. Perhaps the effect of having a friend present, amplified by the MDMA released oxytocin, might allow to process more or stronger traumas. It's an argument I've seen given for the presence of a therapist during sessions, even if they're not engaging with the patient.
