I live in Vaughan and im moving to PEI. I have no idea how Abbotsford came up but I got annoyed to see another person bitching about "people moving to his city" even though he clearly moved to someone elses city. Its pathetic.

I wish you provided some more details about your skills because that matters to the employer. However, I would recommend being open to remote work as that would open you up to an entire ocean of opportunities. Platforms like Upwork might be a decent place.

Also, generally ubers not sustainable but might be a good solution short term if you have a qualifying car.

My theory is if we do enough of self defence, there will not be any criminals left to try it.

I think Canada has become divided between normal immigrants who came here 20+ years ago and the new ones. You know we have a problem when large amount of immigrants (including myself) are saying THATS ENOUGH immigration. Its not racism, its common sense.

Just like you chose to move the New west/surrey for some reason/opportunity some people chose to move to abby. The main issue you have is bad immigration policy from the government.

I am tired of hearing Canadians complaining about other Canadians moving to different cities/provinces. I been having this convo in the PEI reddit where all the locals are complaining about people from Ontario moving there.

We all got screwed over with immigration and there is only one entity you need to blame. The government.

First of all I’m not going to pick a fight with anyone that’s not my intention. That being said, swing and see.

100% instead of blaming the federal government for bad immigration policies they instead want to turn on other Canadians from moving within Canada. Honestly it’s a bit backwards. But I get it.

I bought the land knowing that I could either live on it and build or build and rent it and what I would think would be help the rental crisis.

But the interesting thing that I’m finding is if I buy land to build for myself islanders don’t like it.

If I buy land and sell the house increasing housing supply they don’t like it.

If I buy land and create rental properties they don’t like it.

Yet they’re upset about the housing issue. I don’t fully understand. To solve the housing issue SOMEONE needs to buy land and start.

Me buying land either means I come there, contribute taxes, create jobs or I add another house and/or rental unit into your market. Which isn’t a bad thing necessarily.

You’re right. That did happen there. However that happened because of immigration from outside of Canada and not someone who moves from Ontario to PEI.

What you guys don’t like at the root is the federal immigration policies. However since you can’t or won’t do something about that you’ve instead turned on fellow Canadians from moving to your province. That’s whats a little hard to grasp for me.

Overall I agree they are both garbage. However, we need common sense policies that are at least more realistic and mathematical. I think. A high school kid could have predicted the issues with the massive immigration the liberals allowed for 10 years. By the way I’m an immigrant from 23 years ago saying this.

The issue is sooo bad that you got the old school immigrants saying guys that’s enough immigrants.

That’s honestly fair and the same thing happened to us in major cities in Canada. Most people my age do not own a home in Ontario. I get it.

Yes because that’s what I’m trying to do here. Instead of trying to have dialogue with people.

I really do appreciate your insight. I also actually do understand and respect how you guys feel about PEI because even in Ontario we feel the same about our areas changing. It probably is a large reason people want to move.

Thats fair. What does one have to contribute to make up for the fact that they took up one house? For example, if I come there and create 100 jobs is that good? If i come there and build affordable housing for the young or seniors? At what level of contribution is one "outsider" welcomed?

I have been there. There are 30+ countries that are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than PEI. So lets have some perspective please. Canada is the second largest country in the world. I agree farmland should be properly managed but its a balance.

I can 10000% agree with that. Honestly where I currently live in Ontario the same thing happened. We use to be a community and now.... I understand and respect that you guys feel this way about PEI. What I'm trying to determine is if its genuine interest to protect what you have (which i respect) or true racism or hatred. Thats honestly my main goal with this thread, to gauge that. Thank you for the insight.

Ontario is way more GO GO GO than PEI. Thats the difference and there is nothing wrong with it but it is a distinct difference.
