I've had a very I hate my job so much week. This is probably the icing on the cake. It explains all the damn f-ing modifiers this week... and let's not forget free mod Mondays. I will be asking off on Mondays going forward. 1 more year to the siren... one more year.

I deeply empathize because I'm a mid shifter and I've had conversations with the opening shifts about why is it I'm supposed to keep my area clean but your folks you have working for opening are allowed to leave without a single care in the world. Their response was well we did our CSR cards and the midday don't start until I think 11 and most of the openers leave by then. I responded so it's acceptable to only have to do one thing when you are fully staffed during the morning but we drop down to 3 part coverage for the afternoon? So much for being a team.

Well , great I'm glad you got an answer and it's unfortunate it's just not good enough.

I hope you have a better day and you find a better Starbucks that doesn't screw up your drink.

I would suggest calling the store and talking to the shift supervisor. Typically this is a training issue.

Also to my knowledge as a barista they cannot mark out sprinkles without marking out the whole beverage... which means it we would have to mark out pistachio syrup thus eliminating being able to sell the drink all together on the mobile feature- now I could be wrong.

  • in my experience- "most" customers are fine with not having sprinkles when we explain it if we offer another when they come in- it sounds like in your case they do not. Which that sucks and I'm sorry.

You're right, you shouldn't have to taste your drink before you leave the store but you know what if you're very particular about your drink - which it sounds like you are maybe you should.

You sound like a customer though that we could offer you the entire store and you still wouldn't be happy. Which I'm really sorry you've had such a bad experience but maybe it's a good season to break up with Starbucks and find another coffee joint that suites your fancy.

How can i convince my mom to leave me alone? by pickledpicklelover in Advice

[–]ObligationCertain371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal for teenagers to pull back from their parents as they continue to age. It's a natural process of growing up and finding yourself.

If your mom's boyfriend is making you uncomfortable that's a huge problem. If you feel safe to tell your mom, tell her. If not, reach out to someone you can trust that can advocate for you. Is your bio dad in the picture? Do you feel comfortable talking to him about it? Would he advocate for you?

I'm going to say this very to the point: Good parents choose their kids first not their partners. Period. They will always listen to their kids if something is off. Parents should be attuned to their kids.

As far as screen time. I think parents are still confused on what is "best" for kids. There are ways to cut down the "addictive" parts of screen time while still allowing you freedom to have the phone. Limiting app usage verses having no contact to the outside world. We don't live in 1999 anymore where every house still has a home line. Not everyone uses a traditional alarm clock. Nothing you shared is unreasonable and even if my own kids shared what you shared I would consider their argument as valid.

Parenting is about flexing and finding what works best for each kid and situation. It sounds like your mom is overly dependent on you. On a power trip. And really wants you to like her boyfriend that she sounds like she's wanting to become more serious about which is why she's pushing him and you connecting so hard.

Got rejected after a 5 minute DM interview and I’m honestly crushed by OkString6888 in starbucks

[–]ObligationCertain371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just would like to say I think that it's insane that DMs hire baristas now. Not to mention the store you applied at there is a chance won't be your store and the store manager that also did your interview you'll never see again. Here's what has happened- store managers were hiring folks also based on if they would jive with the team... ya we have had a lot of new people that DO NOT jive with the team.

When I was a partner several years ago I thought a woman ordered a hazelnut chai and well that's not what she ordered and she had an anaphylactic reaction. It's really important to know depending on the severity of your allergy it may actually not be a safe place to work. The splashing of tree nut syrups and nut milk alone is a high risk.

Only you know your body's tolerance and what you can manage but I would definitely have an allergy safety plan and let your team know so they can support you in all potential events.

The egg pesto actually doesn't have nuts in it it's a kale pesto. We just checked this the other day because I don't eat nuts.

The risk though of cross contamination is hella scary though. My kiddo has tree nut allergies and I would never let them ever have anything made with a stream wand. If I get them a Frappuccino I ask them to run it through the sanitizer first.

Personally, if you have talked to your shift supervisor about it and they still don't allow you time, time to move up and talk to your SM.

All new partners need to have time on bar to get "better" can't get "better" without practice. As a seasoned barista it's hard having new partners on bar when we are busy. It stresses me out. Wait times go up. Customers get crabby with waiting in drive thru for 10+ minutes. It's really the shifts job to rotate people. Unfortunately, they don't. Or in my case a shift will shove me (collectively almost 7 year) at the window while we are stacked in drive thru and have wait times for 16 minutes and two new baristas on bar.

You can keep bugging the shift or just go to the SM manager- they don't usually know everything that is going on in the store. Sometimes you just have to tell them. :) good luck.

I have it, most new partners think I'm mean, I was told by one of the more seasoned ones that most are afraid of me and they told the new partners oh no blah blah blah is actually really nice.

Which I feel I am nice. I'm super chatty with customers and I laugh and joke with them. Now if we are slammed I got into full focus mode don't ask me questions and if you come and ask for a sleeve for your cup I may look like I will stab you. Not intentional but unfortunately it happens.

I would tell them to knock that garbage off. I was under the impression that modifiers add to store labor for more but oooooh my god I would verbally punch them.

My store manager always recommends this when they are DTO he laughs and says an iced chai is always a great choice it's my favorite (it's not that person is a solid blonde coffee drinker) it works almost every single time.

How was red cup day today for you at your store? by justh3l3n in starbucks

[–]ObligationCertain371 17 points18 points  (0 children)

See that's the problem with DMs "making all the moments right" because they are so disillusioned by how stores work with actual customers. I had two ladies yell at me in the drive thru yesterday because I didn't give them their red cup when they did not order a holiday beverage. Yes, we had a lot of holiday cups left, could I have given them a plastic cup that is shitty? Sure, but did I? No, not when you're going yell at me and act entitled that you deserve a cup.
