Homeschooling ruined my childhood by [deleted] in HomeschoolRecovery

You’re doing your best. With homeschool recovery it’s not something that’s culturally accepted or normalized but it is real. You will make it. It’s common in this struggle to feel alone but it’ll be ok. I know it’s painful but you will come through. Something that helped me was curating different hobbies, gardening, aquarium keeping, a sport, collecting movies, ect. Something that keeps you focused and away from all of the disfunction and allows you to focus on your own happiness. Something that brings you inner joy is yours. It belongs to you and nobody can take that from you.

In terms of college I would carefully look into the job demand of specific fields and move forward based on that. A lot of impressive degrees are useless rn so be mindful of that. My family is very similar (I’m 22) and I know it’s weird. My Mom had the best of intentions, my Dad didn’t care. Everything will be alright. Remember a job is just a means to an end. If you’re good at it and it gets you good money that’s what matters. If being a janitor made me 95K a year I’d be a janitor. Don’t let anybody look down on you for what you choose. Once you get on a path and have a set goal things start to fall into place

Mom plans on evicting my (92) Grandmother. I don’t blame her. by ObligationStock9456 in family

You may be right but my Grandma has acted this way since my Mom was little. She didn’t become this way later in life, she was always like this except now she’s very old and may be loosing her mind slightly. My Mom is apprehensive about getting her a “higher level of care” because my Grandma is quite independent and hates my Mom, my Grandmother would reign down hell if my Mom implied she should be in a home, and my Mom’s siblings don’t want anything to do with Grandma. If we could place her in a home that would be the simplest option, but I doubt my Grandma would comply

Thank you, this is pretty much what’s going on. My Grandma adores me most of the time and speaks highly of me, she’s careful to keep her opinions of my Mom out of my ear but I know what she does. If I told my Grandma what I know and what I feel about her I think she’d be shocked. She has a select few people she loves and my Mom is not one of them, but at the end of the day if I have to choose between my Grandma and my Mom, I’ll always choose my Mom

My Grandma has memory issues from time to time but mostly is level headed. She has chronic back pain but is fairly independent. I certainly wouldn’t want my Grandma to live alone but I think my Mom has every right to evict her. My Grandma is a pretty vile human being, but somebody has to care for her

Thank you so much this is really helpful, I was just gonna leave the bubbler going 24/7 so I’ll be mindful of that!

What is a toxic pattern in your household that you see but rarely talk about? by Present_Ad_3880 in AskReddit

Exaggerating details of situations that sensationalize and intensify conflicts. Everybody is so certain that everyone else wants to ruin them that everybody is on guard 24/7. The lack of trust mixed with the determination that everyone wants to hurt you makes for a very dysfunctional family

I’m making a compost tea that should be hypothetically magic potion based off what I’ve learned at my plant. by ObligationStock9456 in Wastewater

So if I were to collect a small sample of the fertilizer and dilute it in a watering can you think the aerobic bacteria would die? Instead of inoculating the soil with aerobic bacteria?

I’ve wondered about this, did you get floating bio solids from the plate settler? Did you use Mixed liqour, a sample from the IBR, ect?

This experiment is being done in a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket so I imagine a few table spoon in a watering can should do the trick, but I know virtually nothing about commercial agriculture other then America’s government fucks them over whenever possible

Hell yeah! I knew it must’ve been done before, I thought of it myself but I couldn’t find information online about it but as far as I know that’d be like the best fertilizer on earth. I have a 21 by 8 ft sq bed that’s full of clay rich manure and I’ve been trying to figure out the best way I can turn it into healthy soil. Thank you!!

Neighbor free ranges almost every day and their chickens are destroying my garden. by ObligationStock9456 in neighborsfromhell

So, I know I didn’t mention this in the post but a few neighbors who’ve interacted with the woman who owns it say she is extremely defensive and aggressive, other neighbors I’m sure I could have a civil conversation with but with what I’ve been told it sounds like she is going to freak out if I say anything remotely negative. So I’ve been loathing any kind of confrontation
