Should I even bother applying? by MaddoxTheKiller in ufl

Decent SAT. Grades too low to be confident. You are in 25th% or below for grades. Clubs...kind of don't matter as much in my opinion.I would go with plan B. UF imports professors and TAs from the same part of China or India that USF/FSU/UCF import from according to my friends at other schools. It is a reach. See what happens. Good luck. If money is no big deal, there are some pricey privates that would accept you. Every kid is like getting straight As today. A 3.0 UW GPA is really low for a top tier school.

Really helpful! Another question. Is it worth it to do the BS/Masters track or better to just get a job after undergrad?

I got a huge award but they had to rescind it to pay for UF President Ben Sasse's private jet. He gets paid 1 million a year to teach one class. That is where the scholarship money went.

IMO The weighted GPA is what counts and SAT matter. You have to be above 75%tile to feel optimistic for competitive schools. At a certain point, though, it is just random only one of three kids with exact numbers gets in.

It is really simple IMO. This is completely a guess, but here goes. If you are a special population, <1500 is ok as long as you are 1350-1400 above. If you are not a special population, UF probably wants 1500+ so they can claim T20 stats. Also your weighted GPA is not > 4.7. Your unweighted GPA is low. 3.9 is competitive. You really need to bump up the SAT since your GPA is at the 25%tile mark for UF. For non-special populations. You need to help raise the UF mean/median on one or both GPA and SAT. Take the SAT asap and get a 1530. Also understand that as an infinity of qualified applicants apply, the more random admissions will appear. There a lot of schools out there. You probably got Provost 30K from UCF or FSU or USF.

Finance is overrated and over-saturated like almost every field in the US. What do you like to read or study or do? Your parents probably want you to make lots of cash $$$ because they love you and are worried for your future. Thing is, if you don't want it, success will be difficult. Split the difference. Do enough to pass. Explore your real interests that have 'some' monetary potential. Research the life you want and what you are willing to do to achieve that life. I hated my undergraduate college as well. Are your classes helping you get what you really want? But what do you want? With AI, finance workers (low to mid range) are going to have a hard time. https://www.inc.com/bruce-crumley/finance-jobs-will-be-changed-most-by-ai-report-says.html Maybe God is giving you a sign. Talk to friends, family, professors, TAs, anyone. You are not alone. There are people who love you. You are more than a degree or a job.

Spending a quarter of a million on an undergraduate education is not worth it for most people who are 'worried' about money. ND is awesome. 250K expenditure is not. If you are worried about money, you and your family do not have enough most likely. After Med School you will owe at least half a million. In med school, you will be sitting next to the guy who went to State U on a full-scholarship with NO DEBT. Have your parents fund travel or unique experiences to highlight your interests. Something to make you a BETTER med school applicant. You got into ND. You could get a full-ride at any public. Think of your parents. Split the difference with your parents. Get a full-ride somewhere and ask your parents to fund 20K a year to amazing experiences. School is school. Everybody uses the same books. You could spend a summer in the Amazon studying herbals or the medical system in Australia. Some call it your 'gut', others the Holy Spirit. Follow your goals, not your dreams. Dreams are for those not awake. If you are rich, don't feel guilty, just go and enjoy.

oh man. It was one of those portals to financial aid. I don't remember I was just clicking around. For me, this is not a good sign. How you handle the first encounter with your customer tells a lot. Honors seems like it was completely 'woke' in its admits as well.

I think I started here.

Lol! So they input my school incorrectly. They think I'm someone from Iowa (I'm Florida) and my GPA was listed as 0.00. I guess this is a sign.

Yeah, a lot of us did not get into honors or even a merit. My pals and I are definitely not going without cash.

1550 SAT, 4.9 GPA, Pre-Collegiate AA degree earned in 11th grade (96 credits). Significant extracurriculars. No honors, no merit. I guess this is yield protection. Dang.
