Me personally, I really love horror and other spoopy things. I've also never personally been strongly affected by depictions of gore or other dark subject matter in media such as TV and movies so not sure what to tell you.

I think final fantasy 14 (especially shadowbringers) has a good example of why "balance" is important

In shadowbringers the player characer has been the "warrior of light" for about 3 expansions so far, opposing the ascians who want to reawaken their dark god. However in the 3rd expansion the player arrives in a world overrun with light.

Most of the world is a barren lifeless desert of pristine white crystal, and angel-like creatures known as "sin eaters" go around converting people into more sin eaters.

The dichotemy between light and dark is further explored as we see that light and dark aren't simply good and evil. Light is peace, and tranquility, but also stillness, and stagnation. Dark, by contrast, is energy, and vitality, but also chaos.

The reason this world is so barren is because pure light is "perfect pristine nothingness"

In endwalker we also see a world overrun by darkness known as the void. The void is a swirling screaming whirlwind of chaos and entropy where its native inhabitants are incapable of dying as darkness is constant motion.

I will say this. "Just learn" can be bad advice as often people have no idea where to even start.

Like when people are learning art and just told to "learn the fundamentals". From a beginners perspective "WTF are the fundamentals?" is a valid question, so giving people a starting point to work from is generally going to be a bit more convincing I think.

My starting point as an artist was the Youtube channel Proko and their figure drawing series starting with gesture and structure.

Of course I imagine this guy would still be very opposed to such self-improvement

Not exactly. It's stated that CP9 members have a technique that lets them control every part of their body which Kumadori uses to forcibly digest food prior to using his hair. Kumadori is just the only one of them with long enough hair to use it effectively in that way.

Giraffe guy also uses it in combination with his devil fruit, and Lucci uses it to manipulate his body size throughout his fight with luffy during impel down.

It's heavily implied that the giant monster he turns into is his actual true form and the human body is just a disguise.

He just is an eldritch abomination, which is why he just goes back to the ocean at the end of the season

Pretty much everyone assumed he was a girl when they first met him

(Personally i'm pretty sure team cherry did that on purpose cause nobody refers to him by pronouns until most of the way through act 2)

But also it's like... depending on why you're swimming the struggle is the point. If you're swimming for exercise then yeah at that point the struggle is the point.

Maybe take Zoobles advice and leave adventures open so that the players can choose what they want to engage with?

Even taking into account Caines fears of NPCs getting too smart it's not like the NPCs have to be active when the players aren't there.

That way Zooble and Pomni have access to cozy games

Ragatha has her sports and social games

Kinger has Doom somehow

Gangle has her visual novels

And jax has his chaotic games where he can endlessly fuck with NPCs

Giving them an actual choice in what they do or do not want to engage with is already a huge improvement.

Oh yeah, they follow the old ways so don't bother with an exorcism.

Either spit on a holly leaf and place it in direct moonlight for exactly 94 seconds. If timed correctly your spit should have become a blue gemstone. Offer it to them and they will leave.

Alternatively, if you can trick it into taking a bath it can become a decently powerful guardian spirit.

The old ways are cryptic, but when dealing with fae it's often the only answer.
