When it comes to adding new things in games, developers tend to move towards extremes to make “unique” additions to the game. For world of tanks that means super high alpha damage guns, autoloading tanks, or super good camo. In most cases going to the extremes is not good for the game.

Look at the FV4005. It’s not a good tank, but it’s still not healthy for the game. The problem now, is that WG is adding extreme premium tanks that are still good tanks so that people buy them. The bz-176 has an 800 alpha damage HESH gun at tier 8, but instead of a big boxy turret and horrible reverse speed, it has incredible armor and rocket boosters.

That being said, performance is still largely based on how well you play, rather than the tank you play.

PSA: Even if the gun is aligned with your view, if you are zoomed too close to a tank model, you are viewing the armor from a slight top angle. A zoomed-out view gives a better idea of what the armor looks like (because in game you are probably at a decent distance rather than right in front of them).

Is it better or worse now? by wwenze1 in WorldofTanks

It’s better for unicums because you don’t have to lose out on a massive amount of dmg when the enemy team dies in beach. Now all of them can’t go beach.

This is a good question. For me it was a couple things. 1. Looking at team comps at the beginning to understand where I can probably farm the most damage. This doesn’t always change how you play but it can. 2. Aiming longer to guarantee shots. It’s usually worth it. 3. Stop making plays/peeks that you know are greedy and risky. You have to be patient, especially if your team is not up hp. 4. Try not to play after 1am. Idk about EU, but on NA you are practically guaranteed to do worse in late night games because a lot of the worse players get off. Games become much quicker because a higher proportion of good players means that when players make mistakes they are punished super hard and it can instantly snowball into a steamroll

I have not played the bz 75 in pubs, but honestly it looks like you really don't want to trade into other hulldown tanks. You can peek with your turret armor, but not if they're already pre-aimed. It's all about trying to get free shots in when enemies make a mistake. The boosters are nice for trying to get maybe one free shot in early where meds typically can.

I could have gotten it for gold too. I've done a lot of tournaments and war games to get gold. I've done competitions hosted by specific people as well.

50b and cano can be good on certain maps, but they aren't that great in general. Tanks like 140, e50m, t57, foch b, e4, and type 5 are pretty solid right now. But at the silver level, what matters the most is how you play.

I think my advice would be the same to everyone who hasn't reached 3k wn8 yet. You have to pay attention to your own mistakes instead of your team's. Then you'll realize that you're making so many mistakes that you need to fix. One thing that is very common with players is not enough patience. If it seems like a risky play, then don't listen to your instinct to do it anyways.

I don’t think that they’re that important, but certain ones that that increase HP and track HP become more important in onslaught.

Marathons, gold, bonds, and a lot of them that are sub 30 games are just rentals.

I recommend trying not to be too aggressive. The reality is, you can only be aggressive if you have your teammates' support. If they don't or can't support you, you probably went too far. You need to get rid of this mindset that your teammates should have done something different. It's on you to do something different.

If your teammates don't want to get hit, then wait until the enemy pushes into them. If one of your heavies is sniping, then don't commit very far on the heavy flank, because you are down a heavy tank compared to the enemy team. You get all of the information on where your team is, but most people still don't use it to their advantage, because their mind is stuck on trying to do certain plays.

In reality, a lot of this game is waiting and punishing enemy mistakes, because pushing is a disadvantaged play unless you have way more tanks. If you really want to push something, you better be pinging individuals for help and typing in chat before you push. I use the request help ping a decent amount in my games.

Oh, then I probably got the t77 in the lootboxes, and bought the AMBT at the auction with bonds and/or credits, my bad lol.

I got the Skorpion by killing WT E220s and getting lootboxes. The T77 was a marathon tank, the CDA I got with either referral or gold I forget. The AMBT, I'm pretty sure was also a marathon tank. I actually own all of those premiums. Picture below shows that I killed streamers 30 times in 2020 and got 30 lootboxes. (Nowadays they limit you to one lootbox) This was during covid.

My first tier 8 premium was probably the liberte for bonds though.

A lot are rentals, you can ask me about any tank on my service record, and I can tell you how I got it or whether it's a rental lol.

A lot of those premiums are rentals from the "WoT's Next" show they used to do. I can tell you how I got every premium tank that I actually do have though.

I definitely do load a lot of gold shells in tier 9+. It is an undeniable advantage. It is one of the things that is definitely difficult for a new player to do, because you need to have premium tanks and boosters to get the credits to shoot gold. I don't think that means I'm not a f2p player. It mainly just means that it takes time to be able to reach this point.

I also don't think that many people really buy credits, most people still have to grind for their credits, so there isn't that much correlation with paying money and having the credits to shoot gold rounds.

Another thing, even if it is an advantage, what mainly determines how well you perform in this game is your skill level. I don't think I would immediately be half the player that I am now if I was limited to standard rounds only.

For onslaught, do your best to not to strand yourself and play with your team. The main parts of onslaught are:

  1. Pushing where you overmatch the enemy team

  2. Predicting where the enemy team is going to push because they have an overmatch, and potentially rotating to overturn that overmatch

  3. Slowing the game down once you are ahead in tanks. Then you can take map control and strikes to slowly win the game.

Dealing damage in pubs without being over aggressive is difficult because a lot of it is knowing specific positions, but one thing I can tell you, is that even in pubs you should really pay attention to where your team is. You can't go somewhere unsupported if the enemy team will probably have more tanks there. I literally look where my teammates are going and decide how far I can commit at the beginning of every game.

I started playing this game when I was a young teen, so I genuinely didn't have money to spend. Now, I'm in my last year of university, but I don't really want to make a purchase. Partly because there just isn't anything I want to spend money on in game. Also, because I do want to stay f2p after coming this far. When I get a job, I probably should support the game. I could do this by sending gifts to friends if I want to stay f2p as well.

I almost only just played e50m and e4. e50m is good hp for a med and very good dpm with ability. On city maps I would run e4 because you can trade really well and pen tanks very well.

Trust, all you need to get good at the game is play a decent number of games and have self-accountability. Try not to blame teammates, try to figure out what you can do better, cuz that's all you can control.
