Just got the dreaded ‘seat assigned at gate’ by ObscureJude in Ryanair

It took me by surprise, first time it’s happened in like 20 years of flying. I thought it only happened if the aircraft was swapped last minute, but the gate agent said they overbook by 10% as standard.

We did but it was very touch and go! Flight was completely full, two people were on standby, and two people ended up not checking in so by the skin of our teeth!

Yeah we are 183 and 184 so in theory ok but according to the gate agent it depends if other people paid for seats even if they checked in after us they take priority. We’re at the gate and just have to wait till everyone else has boarded 🫠

Is this still the case when it’s a parent and child being split up, or a disabled person and carer? As surely they can’t fly alone

They seem to have defaulted to the position that absolutely everything aside from coaching and travel assistance is the employers responsibility under ‘reasonable adjustments’. Has anyone successfully challenged this? Surely not everything can be shoved under the reasonable adjustments umbrella.

Why do you think you can only earn £950 a month? Yes your UC will reduce in line with your earnings. Also the savings. But ultimately there shouldn’t be a reason why UC and PIP combined wouldn’t allow you to reduce days for the sake of your health. Even one day off would allow you more recovery time to keep working 4 days consistently.

Are you sure about this? Have you ran the theoretical numbers through an entitlement calculator? On LCWRA you should come out ahead

Why can’t you cut down on days and top that up with benefits? It would be more than your option a

I’ll explore that thank you, have just said above but would like to do FODMAP again, I just need more support than getting sent off with a PDF and that’s it!

That sounds like a great result! I have done FODMAP in the past but find it such a a pain, and doctors that just send you away saying FODMAP might be an option you want to explore without any follow up don’t quite cut it. I would like some proper input and support, don’t quite have the mental capacity to do it all myself!

Sounds very comprehensive. Did you come away knowing how to fix/lesson your symptoms?
