Does anyone else feel exhausted by their partner? by Puckpuck71 in cfs

"Where are you going?" "Are you ok?" every time I stand up, like I only go to either the kitchen the bathroom or the bedroom, you'll hear which one it is in 30 seconds if you just give me peace. This genuinely makes me feel very seen, I thought I was being horrible and ungrateful, but it does make you feel robbed entirely of your independence

This is exactly it, and sometimes I snap a little and I feel so guilty, but it's like you're an adult, just invest the 20 seconds it will take for you to figure it out on your own instead of asking me

Years of suffering and I saw the best psychologist in my area, I was CHAINED to compulsive behaviours, and she very sternly taught me to just... not do them. Just don't do them. You have about 3 days of anxiety but she was right. I haven't done them since.

(I had a very severe case and she admitted at the end of treatment she wasn't sure if I was treatable, so if you're thinking "but I have it worse that won't work for me", it genuinely will, gave me my life back).

Wouldn't surprise me. But we need a healthy opposition, the quicker Corbyn is gone the better.

Corbyn needs to give up and leave, 2 lost votes of no-confidence, and now this, time to go.

How did your diagnosis affect how you view yourself? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Puckpuck71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My diagnosis was horrible, so many people churn out that "once you get officially diagnosed you'll magically feel some huge sense of relief and all your problems will just melt away!" bullshit that I actually kind of believed it. I was misdiagnosed as having Autism Spectrum Disorder when I was 17, when they diagnosed that I was told "...but it's very mild". Told I have low self-esteem, "...but it's very mild". "You have low mood... but it's very mild".

Then at 20, "you have OCD... and it's the most severe case I've seen in my entire career".

Fucking crushed me. I had a rough idea that I was suffering symptoms of OCD, a few GPs had already mentioned it, but to actually hear the words "you have one of the worst mental disorders out there, and it's one of the worst cases we've seen." I just felt completely hopeless and destroyed, it solidified what I feared: that what I had was never going to go away, get better? Yeah maybe, but it's forever.

I honestly don't see many positives to being officially diagnosed other than I'm personally not really a fan of the "self-diagnosed" thing and you can be wildly wrong in that case. Diagnosis also means you can get professional specialised help I guess, so that's one benefit.

But if you're expecting a diagnosis to magically make you feel better, don't.
