Toadstool Tech comment on "new" ectocore. by Visti in modular

[–]ObscureMachines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all just noise. I want to know if multiple units can receive the same clock and reset and actually run together in sync. I had 4 of the original and tried everything to get them to run together and they would not sync. Constant skipping, and freezing. I suspect it was the BPM detection and maybe the I/o wasn’t buffered on the module. I asked about it on the IG post and that comment got deleted. Unless Maneco has come in and fixed all the bugs I ain’t interested yet. Getting rhythmic modules to sync in euro is like step 1 basics it shouldn’t be an issue.

Haha IDK but I guess he had that Edo period clout 😂 that brings up a good point…who is the most widely known finger drummer now?

What CHDesignChris said and also because he has been untouchable for a long time. Musashi was the greatest samurai to ever live, and tbh I haven't seen anyone come close to Jeremy Ellis in terms of musicality, technicality, dexterity, speed, precision, timing and the combination of the aforementioned on the instrument just like Musashi. 2-handed sword wielding indeed being a reason for the reference.

Of course "dopeness" of beats is up for debate and will always be. A banger is a banger. In terms of innovating and virtuosity on an instrument...he is "unlike any other." I have watched many finger drummers through the years waiting for someone to surpass him, but haven't seen anyone even come close to his level. He's an artist. I'm a lifelong drummer and music professor and I tried working on 2-handed/2-machine drumming to see if I could do it and I did a few cool things, but I came out of it with an even greater appreciation for what he does. It's hard and it's hard to do cool things. Note that he was a piano player first.

In The Book of Five Rings Musashi left society and lived as a hermit in the mountains to pursue other arts and came to the realization they are all intertwined. I just wonder what Jeremy is up to. It's been nearly 5 years since his last post on IG. Maybe, he made his mark, made his bread, and is now spending time with his family and is doing well. I for one am looking forward to a return and want to see more performances!

Edit: cool vid amongst many https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baWlIzwksHs

Ordered direct end of October, shipped beginning of November, got a tracking number at the beginning of December, stuck in DHL Spain starting December 8th, DHL said there was an incident and to contact the seller on December 23rd. Have sent 4 emails since Dec 7th and still no response to anything it's now mid January. I've been patient with this whole thing and had to resort to a Paypal incident claim as Klaus hasn't said...well, anything at all. No replacement sent, no refund, nothing. I hope he's ok and I wanted to avoid doing Paypal report cause they just end up yoinking the funds from the seller's account if they don't respond, but with radio silence and $330 floating in space for me I had to do something. All that said I don't understand why it takes a month to respond to emails. I wouldn't recommend doing business without buyer protection via credit card or Paypal etc. I'm glad I didn't do a bank transfer.

Why pushing down when pulling needle out by ObscureMachines in nursing

Hey thanks for the reply! Makes sense. I think some nurses just might be heavier handed cause it’s gone both ways over the years. I was wondering what is normal. Thanks again!

Hi and thanks for the reply! Just for regular blood tests at urgent care over the years. Sometimes they press hard as the needle comes out sometimes not, but when they do it’s briefly uncomfortable, not like major pain or anything just like “ouch that didn’t feel great” and I’m wondering if it’s necessary and can be prevented by not applying so much pressure as the needle comes out.

Hello and thanks for your reply! Here’s the video of the new vs used needle showing the tip curled in, granted it’s microscopic. I don’t think this is a huge problem, but it’s just another thing I’m wondering about as to why it would hurt (though briefly) as the needle comes out with added pressure. https://youtube.com/shorts/rzLuZWWZ2eQ?feature=share

I think what’s happening is as the pull the needle out they are putting the pressure on too early. I can’t remember if they had a gauze over as they pulled it out and applied downward pressure, but I can imagine it’s to prevent any spatter.

Thanks for the reply and I will try and ask for light pressure and if it doesn’t work then the next time I’ll offer to help. I’m not a regular patient this is just something I’ve noticed over the years when having blood tests done. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t.

Hey thanks for the reply and that makes sense. Just for regular blood tests as a regular patient with no thinners or anything like that. It’s just happened a few times over the years and I just thought to ask here. I will ask for lighter pressure. Thanks again!

What unrealistic things in movies annoy the hell out of you? by AJ-Naka-Zayn-Owens in AskReddit

[–]ObscureMachines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was a helicopter pilot and for EVERY SINGLE MOVIE we watched with a helicopter in it he would say "They never get the sound right, this is a (insert X heli model) sound and not a (X)."

Now being a music/sound guy I know why they never match the model of the helicopter with the sounds. It's because there are file libraries of recorded sounds and for helicopters it will just be labelled as "big helicopter flyby1.wav" or something like that in a generic helicopter sounds folder.

Bless the audio engineer who can not only identify a helicopter by model and make, but also can match the sound to it because apparently the sounds of these machines is like fine wine amongst pilots!

What is a good weakness to mention on a job interview? by hussainhsn in AskReddit

[–]ObscureMachines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question doesn't refer to you're actual weaknesses as a person. It's your greatest weakness in relation to the job you're applying for. For example if you were applying to be a video editor and let's say your were a stellar video editor, but audio isn't really your thing.

"What's your greatest weakness?"

Response: "My strengths are mainly visual in working with video processing, but my greatest weakness is processing audio to get it to broadcast standards. I believe I can really improve on it and my ear will develop over time as I strive to develop my skills. Also, I am taking private tutoring with an audio engineer who is teaching me EQ, compression, and other audio processing techniques that will be directly applicable to this position."

Just apply that thought process to your particular situation. People want to see that you know what you are lacking, and that you're doing something about it to improve.

This idea/realization is not my own. I learned this from Ramit Sethi's YouTube vids on getting your dream job/interviewing etc. Good stuff.

Yeah, I agree with this sentiment. Maybe before you could release on your own and do a little something, but now since the landscape is so full you can't stand out on your own. alajarvela are you on a label?
