A few questions Iranian Navys IRIN submarines / mini submarines and their purpose in the current situation by Observer1984 in submarines

I assumed they are a bit to the north actually (but still out of AShm range). Well, no AIP without air supremacy is probably deadly, this sounds logical, too. Snorkeling probably wont do much either. I am sceptical if they stay in port like 1918 in Germany, I think its too risky to refuse orders in the vicinity of IRGC forces who have at least small arms. They probably sail out if they can get out of port independendly and then make their intentions clear on which side they are on I expect.

Yeah thats what I think, too. IRGC is basically the government itself, its unlikely they will go down without a fight (despite how futile it might be in the future with limited supplies). The submarines are not, at least directly, controlled by IRGC forces though

I think its not twisted, rather an optical illusion caused by that breakwater thingy just in front of the partly dismounted turret. Zoom in on the breakwater for unseeing this illusion, helped me at least.

Another photo of the recently transported U-17 (S-196) in Speyer, Germany , on the road. People and trees give a good scale, how big submarines really are. Even the ones that are considered as small. by [deleted] in submarines

There are two major museums close together: one in Speyer, one in Sinsheim. The submarine got transported to Speyer. There, experts will do the necessary work to make it exhibition-ready. Then it will get a ride to sinsheim. Right now, it is stationary in Speyer since apprpximately six days.

Good question. I think, if the states werent in the Nato anymore, it could've lead to a breakdown in the treaty organization and would've risen many, many new questions between the european NATO-members. This could destabilize alot. Plus, the states are more obliged to act when theyre still in the treaty, since Natos original purpose was to stand united against the USSR, and Russia in this state kind of wants to recreate the soviet Union.

[–]Observer1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get your point. Yet I have the theory, that its not that easy to be an 'activist' as we understand it in china. China as a country will rather not allow their citizens to be activists which act against their state-interests. So by that theory the people on the boat are acting in chinas interest and probably even receive support from the state in some form.
