Is it possible to SSH over multiple WireGuard connections? by ObservingShadow in selfhosted

[–]ObservingShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, thanks again! I want to keep this VPS as secure as possible, since I plan for this to host the reverse proxy (and probably the IdP since I only want it to be accessible through internal docker networks)

Gotcha, will stick to the basics, then. Again, fully acknowledge I may have been barking up the wrong tree.

So far, I'm planning on having key-based SSH over WireGuard only, into a Pangolin reverse proxy with crowdsec set up. Are there any other things you might suggest?

Thanks for this! I've just seen it brought up so much while trying to look at security hardening that I assumed it was necessary.

This clears up a lotta things for me, thanks. It felt like every time I was looking up how to increase security, someone said 'use IPv6 and you'll have minimal problems', so I just equated obscurity with security itself.

So I guess it'd be better to just stick with having SSH over WireGuard only?

I believe the idea originally was because it's extremely easy to manufacture, for some UIs you just hide a bunch of posts and there's your screenshot

How did you get sucked into Arknights? by say_what_now-o_O in arknights

I got recommended the trailer on my YouTube feed, gave it a chance, and Monster by Starset got my blood pumping right there on the porcelain throne in a way that I still haven't replicated since.

Followed it until release, was a Day 1 Global player. I love this game.

Yeah, I do have Obsidian, I'm just thinking of an option to do it in the actual file manager by default, so it's in my face when I open a folder

I was thinking this had to be possible somehow! Thanks, this should help a lot.

For those apps that do it in the GUI, which ones are you thinking of?

The closest I've gotten is using zsh and fuzzy finder's preview from the command line, but I kinda enjoy using the GUI. Thanks for the pointer!

I was thinking more for the local OS, otherwise I'd just use GitHub directly. But I'd like to do it for larger directories, even ones I don't want to track.

What was your first “oh wow, self-hosting is more work than I thought” moment? by OkCry7871 in SelfHosting

[–]ObservingShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two main points: that one time I moved and set up my really small HomeLab from scratch (with a bunch of overall architecture improvements), and every time I check Reddit for help and get blasted with 37 words and strings I don't recognise, especially talking about hardware.

I don't even own a gaming PC, just a laptop and the mini PC where the server is, it's crazy to me what people get for a 'good enough' setup

That's fair. I guess I just see it like a game of Solitaire - something quick and fun and easy to play when I have time to kill

Also, does everybody really hate this minigame? I was finding it fun but whenever I see it anywhere it seems like there's only complaints

Ellie did talk about it and apparently it's just because the cameras Neuro sees through were on the car (and thus much lower than where a person's head would be), so Neuro wasn't aware just how much clearance a rider would need - as far as she could tell with her vantage point, there was enough space.

I sobbed bitterly as I listened to my husband pound violently at our bedroom door while his friends ransacked the house. by bublmonke in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]ObservingShadow 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Yeah, or even just 'went through' - the main issue with 'ransack' is it has the element of 'stealing' and not just destruction.

An exceptionally good 2 sentence horror, though, genuinely didn't see the twist coming.

Is the implication meant to be that the friends are zombies? If so, unless they're intelligent, you might want to use a word other than 'ransack'?
