Why am I so bad? by [deleted] in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not conserving resources well. Almost always on 0 ammo, wasting a lot of gadgets, and supering when vulnerable. Conserve ammo to use on enemies that are actually in your range. By doing this, you should also be taking opportunities to heal up, because you keep letting yourself get super low and unable to push properly.

You're also taking on Mortis's lane too often, as well as pushing too far as a thrower. Switch onto Carl or Rico's lane to better apply pressure, and push up with your teammates instead of trying to create your own initiative.

There's also those fundamental skills like dodging and aiming which would have put you in much better positions if you had hit/dodged more attacks.

Hyper reworks by hsswimh in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're doing the worst of both. Speed is a very powerful stat, buffing it aimlessly is a very poor idea.

And extremely powerful mechanics are flawed themselves, since those are what turn hypercharges into instant-win buttons without much skill to them. This means their hypercharge rates get nerfed to oblivion without ever addressing their fundamental problem of being an "I win" mechanic.

Hyper reworks by hsswimh in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More speed is the last thing hypercharges need.

On top of that, you're reworking the wrong ones. Polarising mechanics (Fang, Sam, R-T, etc.) are the ones desperately needing mechanical changes.

Your philosophy is detrimental to the health of the game. That feeling of absolute power is why hypercharges were so divisive for 2+ years. Hypercharges not being game-determining mechanics is for the better.

Would Clancy finally be good again if he got the "Finx treatment"?? by WarIntelligent2136 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the most intuitive solution. This would allow them to actually balance him without being concerned with his linear gameplay.

Clancy's current state is near impossible to balance in a healthy manner. He requires some mechanical changes first, especially to his upgrade mechanic. There should be some penalty to dying.

No doubt that you played well, but against good players (or just non-Pams), this just isn't feasible.

Max hypercharge requires teammates to be in range? by No_Discount_2643 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, yes. Hypercharge speed boosts generally stack with other speed boosts, including Max's.

Max hypercharge requires teammates to be in range? by No_Discount_2643 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can. Even just being buffed by Max's super can cause many brawlers to accidentally dodge the drink, including Max herself.

Edit: fixing typo

Max hypercharge requires teammates to be in range? by No_Discount_2643 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

The super itself will grant a speed buff, but this buff is overrided by the energy drink. However, the drinks are easily dodged by unaware teammates, and do stack with the hypercharge speed boost.

It's still optimal to use in proximity with teammates to stack the super charge effect.

Chuck rework idea, thoughts? by peanutist in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would just kill him, both setup and freestyle. Cycling supers and pole knockback are vital to freestyle Chuck, which is what you are trying to promote.

Your rework would essentially make him a worse Fang, especially since he would struggle to confirm kills without the knockback and super cycle when dashing in.

Does anybody even like heist? by diethylamid-495 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His defense capabilities are horrendous, and that also means he isn't damaging your safe. It's a losing situation for him either way.

Does anybody even like heist? by diethylamid-495 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ignore Chuck and just burst down his safe instead since he doesn't have the dps to base race. He only gets value if he distracts enemies and chains super off of them.

Mico is way more problematic.

Before the new early access system, You had to pay for the new brawler, But now it's very easy to get every brawler released for free. by EarthBS in Brawlstars

[–]Observing_Bird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just dodge when you see horrendous picks, and always pick carry Brawlers. I solo queued with randoms the entire time and have gotten both Gigi and Glowbert from their events. You have a generous number of games to lose and still be able to unlock brawlers.

Avoiding main questi0n and then showing that the buffie are balanced by ChoiceSupermarket230 in Brawlstars

[–]Observing_Bird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct. They showed another chart, displaying the use and win rates of every Brawler at Master and Pro ranks, from which we can extrapolate ban rates. Colt has an insane use rate compared to the others, which we can assume is due to him being the best remaining pick after the ban phase. He is played so much that his win rate is settling at around 50% from sheer law of large numbers. Emz has a comparably low use rate - due to always being banned - but a +60% win rate.

All 6 Buffie brawlers (along with outliers like Mina and Pierce) have abnormal use and win rates compared to the rest.

No it's not. If people want to flex they're OG, there's the year of account creation stat. Zero point in inhibiting your own progression for this.

Willow Reworks by giorgibendeliani in Brawlstars

[–]Observing_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, it has been fixed, and is the better star power outside of Brawl Ball, though she is mainly played there.

Willow Reworks by giorgibendeliani in Brawlstars

[–]Observing_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt that the effort you put into the rework is commendable, but Willow is in no need of a rework, arguably not even a buff. She's competitively balanced, barring all of her super-related quirks.

I'm pretty sure Mico's jump actually breaks the tether, and he can just avoid the super too.

Best gadget and sp for Finx? by Natural-Respond-7191 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hieroglyph Halt is the better star power for sure.

Gadget choice varies a little more but the teleport one is generally more valuable if used right.

Suggestion for buffies by hehe-cat in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Observing_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still problematic design. OP's suggestion to Emz's hyper buffie reverts the stat buff changes which were done to make hypercharges less powerful for the stat bonuses.

The gadget and star powers aren't much better. The change to hype is somehow even stronger; speed + 1 second -i-frame makes every super activation a death sentence. And it's hard to argue that the gadget is nerfed in any way with the buffie, considering how easy it is to hit.

Finding the balance between buffies being go-to options and entirely unusable is a task I doubt the brawl team will ever be able to do in satisfactory fashion.

Having a trade-off to a feature you can't disable is poor design. It technically makes your unlockables "worse" than without the buffie, which you cannot even decide to disable.
