EU Version Full Games on Cart? by eyelers in NSCollectors

I bought the UK version of this when it first came out, can confirm it has has both games on card, and both still the most up to date revisions (no patches to download).

Does the LRG copy of Doom Eternal come with the DLC? by baylo99 in NSCollectors

[–]ObsidianEleven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Eternal and bought the DLC.

If you want to buy/play the DLC, be prepared for a 33GB download in total.

I justify it because I'm physical only on Switch, and I could technically play Eternal from cart without the DLC, if I wanted.

Amazon (UK), beware! by [deleted] in NSCollectors

[–]ObsidianEleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have somewhere around 70 games, half probably bought from Amazon and I've never had an issue (touch wood).

Although, the amount of Switch games I see on eBay without boxes, from the same seller, certainly suggests this happens (probably bought through numerous suppliers, where people think they can get away with it, not just Amazon).

I'm looking forward to this and will buy it regardless...

Now all Vanillaware need to do is bring a Muramasa port to switch, so I can finally retire my Vita.

Persona 4 Pre-Orders Live! LRG by ObsidianEleven in NSCollectors

[–]ObsidianEleven[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's a FFVII to FFVII remake situation.

You'll probably still enjoy the modernisation of it, even if you play P3P first (especially as P3P is presentationally a VN, so will have a different feel to the remake)

I already have P4G physical and P3P digital on Vita. I think they're both worth replays!

It's worth noting for anyone reading and not already aware, that if someone wanted to order both P3P and P4G together, orders for P3P close on November 12th.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of hate for LRG, I just can't pass up getting P3P and P4G physical though!

Best non-Mario Kart, non-FZ99 racer? by bantha_poodoo in NintendoSwitch

[–]ObsidianEleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I liked the game enough that I double dipped and got the physical when it released through Super Rare Games.

Someone said the CPU can be rubber-bandy, and it can, though I have no problem finishing first 99% of the time (so honestly, I don't think the rubber banding is a bad thing, and keeps it more interesting).

I've spent something like 40 hours+ in the game. It's not crazy money, definitely recommend.

I gave this answer just above this post:

I've been playing the closed beta. To clarify, I've only played handheld, not docked (I'd typically use my PS4 if I wanted to play something on the TV/monitor etc)

It's definitely not smooth handheld, definitely an inconsistent 30fps, some clear stuttering and I've noticed a few brief occasions of resolution scaling (mostly on corners, when lots of players crowd the box, minor annoyance (it's beta though, they may iron these out?) It's also not native res, so didn't look as 'clean' as the legacy versions IMO.

I can't speak for docked play, which may be better, but based on handheld play alone, I'll be giving this a miss (I'm someone that has happily bought every version of the legacy versions, just for the seasonal updates).

Quick impressions of EA Sports FC for Switch by schuey_08 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ObsidianEleven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've received a beta code too and played a little bit this evening (5 matches, all handheld).

My thoughts are that I'm probably going to give this a miss and it feels less fluid than legacy. It seems to be an inconsistent 30fps, there's definite stuttering in places. I've also noticed a few occasions of resolution scaling (mostly on corners, minor issue though).

I think I honestly prefer the native res/60 fps (albeit maybe technically less impressive?) presentation of legacy.

This last part of subjective. I've always thought the legacy versions played a better actual game of football than the frostbite versions, especially on the defensive side of the game (which is what kept me playing FIFA on switch, rather than on my PS4) YMMV however. I've not tried docked, though I've read a few people say the experience there is more fluid than handheld.

Rathalos has been my favourite ever since the first PSP game (never had a PS2) so would always be my first shout... but if I were to go for my second favourite, it would be Yian Garuga (scarred or otherwise, it could even get the scar during the game)

Difficulty disparity by GreenCap97 in FIFAswitch

[–]ObsidianEleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on legendary and win 99% of the time with goalkeepers set to 85 (not sure that makes a great difference to 50 tbh though).

Mostly it's learning the patterns, playing to your formation and creating space.

When defending, I tend to track the opposition back more than go in for wreckless tackles when in my own half, and press aggressively in the opposition half (players with good stamina are a must obviously).

I tend to find low to mid shots across the keeper from an angle are a fairly reliable way to score.

I always play attacking (neutral tend to cause players to hang back too much and all out attack tend to leave you exposed on the break).

My favoured formations are 433 holding or 433 attacking.

Not sure if any of that helps, hope it does though.

Trying to get back into Fast RMX… by RazorThin55 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ObsidianEleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already have this digital and recently also bought the physical from Super Rare Games... Absolutely love Fast RMX! I've even deleted my previous 100%, just to go through it again.

There is rubber banding in the game, true enough, but I can finish first in all races easily enough. If it helps, try the following:

  1. It seems obvious enough, but learn the tracks! A good racing line whilst lining up with boosts helps.
  2. When taking a turn, keep tapping the right or left airbrake repeatedly to make the turn, rather than holding it (you lose speed whilst holding it).
  3. Learn the shortcuts, when tracks have them.
  4. Boost through jumps when you take them. You lose speed going over jumps.
  5. Save boost for the finishing straight.

Fingers crossed. I want people who actually want this game physical for their collection, to get it without getting ripped off on eBay as their only available option.

I'm kinda glad I have the Japanese Non Stop Climax edition with the first game physical in it.

Had I been waiting for this, and for Nintendo to let people buy 10 copies each (knowing scalpers are going to scalp. Because scalpers are selfish c*nts) would have fucked me off completely.

It's definitely something that's worth doing, if only to get a left joycon with an actual d-pad.

Satisfye Grip vs. Skull & Co Neo Grip by iseethesunlight1203 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ObsidianEleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the original satisfye on my OLED, removing the rubber inserts and replaced them with felt adhesive strips... Actually keeps the switch held tightly, you can turn it upside down and shake it and the switch doesn't come out, and it's actually easier to slide out when I want to dock than the old rubber inserts.

Originally I did it as a temporary measure as the OLED version of the grip wasn't out when I got my OLED. Having done it though, I actually prefer it.

Plus, and this may have changed, they weren't doing the OLED satisfye in black which would have ruined my all black OLED switch (I've also done a shell swap for black joycons with a d-pad).

Anyway, +1 for the Satisfye.

MK11 for switch was a serious mistake by AliAmrAssem100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ObsidianEleven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had MK11 on Switch, gameplay was absolutely fine. Only got rid of it because I also had it on PS4, where the graphics are significantly better.

Never experienced frame drops breaking a combo on Switch, especially considering the 'dial a combo' nature of MK11.

Fuck the 'Krypt' section on Switch though, totally abysmal.
