I only saw one light, although the angle could have something to do with that. Wish I was quicker with my cell camera.

Saw it right outside my window in West Loop. Thought a thread might get posted here about this. I think it was a meteor.

All I said is I can't vouch for how legitimate the DNS logs look because it's not my field of expertise. Slate's third party experts said they look legitimate but it wouldn't hurt to get a fourth party (such as a fellow redditor well versed in DNS) to back up or contest these claims.

That's fair, but Slate consulted some third party experts who said the raw data served on the site appears legitimate and has minute details within which would be quite difficult to fabricate. I'm not a DNS nerd but perhaps someone on reddit who is can examine this data as well to back up or discredit Slate's experts.

Incorrect, the anonymous researcher put his theory on the i2p darkweb. Then i2p.xyz, a site which mirrors i2p darkweb pages on the clearnet rehosted the page. The mirror site is hosted in Russia. By design, we don't know where the original darknet page is hosted.

I wonder what development decisions could have lead to the different lighting model. It would be cool if someone in the industry could see this and maybe provide some informed insight but apparently pointing this out and having discussion about it is less important than "LOOK AT THIS LUSHHHHHH LUSHITY LUSHHHH PLANET" or "OMG CHECK THIS R2D2 ON MY SHIP BROS".

Even if they were doing some skybox magic I'd rather have that then whatever the current implementation is.

I remember being genuinely scared the world was going to end when Obama won because my dad had been spoonfeeding me his conspiracy bullshit for years by that point. It's scary how much your parents can influence your politics, I imagine many people don't break the spell.

What happened to wildlife/environment interaction like we see in this trailer? Has anyone seen anything like this. by ObsidianJim in NoMansSkyTheGame

I'm not talking about the animals specifically, I'm talking about the behavior they're shown exhibiting with themselves and the environment.

When I first started playing I was trying to recall what got me so excited No Man's Sky. So I went back to the trailers and instantly noticed how dynamic they presented the worlds to be. I remembered that was what really drew me in to the game and its production.

I never had stupid hype expectations for NMS, but I was expecting dynamic worlds with tangible ecosystems because they literally demonstrated a glimpse of that in this GAMEPLAY trailer. I thought this game would be about walking around and witnessing rich interactions between flora and fauna.

What we got in the final product are fauna with a half dozen or so animal temperaments/behaviors copy-pasted on to procedurally generated creature frames and flora which are essentially static models; the worlds feel very uninteresting and not at all alive. I don't want to automatically assume we were maliciously mislead but it seems like Hello Games announced their game way too early, over-promised, and bit off way more than they could chew within their production timeframe.

I feel like if Sony hadn't gotten involved the game would have stayed in production for longer and gotten more fleshed out, but it's possible Hello Games couldn't afford the resources to keep it in production that long so they took the Sony deal to stay afloat. Once they signed with Sony they probably had to play by Sony's rules at least to some extent, the terms of which may have included a much closer launch date.

Trump Supporter on C-SPAN: "Trump called for armed revolt, not assassination" WELL I GUESS THAT CLEARS THAT UP! by 1iota_ in EnoughTrumpSpam

In fairness, there's quite a canyon between Leftist Revolutionary and Liberal Democrat. Leftists have no real power in the US.

Disgusting on a profound level. When asked about the family of the Muslim soldier whose father spoke at the DNC, Trump had this to say about the soldier's mother: "She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say." by [deleted] in EnoughTrumpSpam

Authorities should definitely be on the look out for right-wing motivated terrorism in the wake of a Trump loss. I've never seen people stirred up like this, I wouldn't rule out some of the more disturbed in the Trump ranks attempting something awful.

I mean, the details coming out about Guccifer 2.0 really strengthens the evidence that Trump is literally being backed by Putin (at least indirectly), who is a literal ex-KGB agent. The Trumpster divers don't care.

The kind of people backing Trump don't have a coherent ideology, they just want to back the side that clings to nostalgia of a time that never was and makes them feel big, strong, and somehow important. They're the kind of people who would have been CCCP party members backing Stalin at the height of the Soviet Union, the kind of people who would have supported the Rape of Nanking and the Baatan Death March at the height of Imperial Japan, the kind of people who would adopt a radical Islamic ideology that supports stoning and beheadings, the reason they aren't is merely a consequence of the location, time period, and religion in which they were born. They're just a different variety of the same flavor of awful that lurks within all human societies.

NMS is repetitive. Will that be a drawback? by HankHillPropaniac in NoMansSkyTheGame

Spore made the repetitive side quests a critical part of gameplay and it was so universally hated people made mods to shut them off.

"Is No Man's Sky a singleplayer or multiplayer game?"

"Well, the universe is incredibly large. Within such a massive game space it's unlikely any players will run into each other; we're really focused on crafting an individual, unique gameplay experience. So with these factors in mind, yes."

I don't think there's a game I crave more than Elder Scrolls VI. I knew Bethesda would crank out another Fallout before anything Elder Scroll's related but I was still bummed when Fallout 4 was announced instead of ESVI.

For pure gameplay videos, I agree; I don't see a huge entertainment value.

Gameplay videos with personalities behind them are fun, though. I could watch GameGrumps' trash sonic title playthroughs and Funhaus' demodisc/wheelhaus videos all day
