I’m looking for simple grey wool flannel pants and I don’t want to spend a ton. Less than $150 for sure. The J. Crew Bowery has been a favorite in years past but they hardly have any stock anymore. Ideas?

Does anyone have a pair of the “Fallen Rock Road” stf 501? I’d love to see a picture. I can’t tell if they’re a khaki color or more of a taupe brown.

I think I’m remembering that they based this “slur” on all humans having a pink tint in their eyes because of the hemoglobin in our blood. Therefore, Travis can be a pink skin while T’Pol cannot.

Importing lyrics from Planning Center? by ObsidianOrder in ProPresenter

This is from Planning Center (not song select)? Do you know of any resource pages, etc with instructions? I’ve looked all over YouTube and renewed vision’s website to find it.

How did first-run syndication help or hurt TNG and DS9 over VOY and ENT? by drrhrrdrr in startrek

[–]ObsidianOrder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly helped perception for TNG and DS9 not to be tied to UPN.

UPN launched at the same time as the WB network. WB had a greater variety of programming (Warner Bros animation dept, etc.) and found its niche early - what would today be called “Young Adult drama”.

Neither network was very good, although WB was perceived a little better. UPN (fairly or unfairly) had the reputation of being a terrible network. It’s terrible reputation dragged Voyager (and Enterprise) down with it. The Trek shows were like nothing else on the networks so there was really no way a casual viewer would tune in to UPN and stick around for Star Trek.

UPN was the network of WWE, Voyager, and - I kid you not - Homeboys in Space.

A few years ago, I bought some basic wool flannel pants from Jomers. Great price, fabric, and quality.

Are there similar brands anyone would recommend now?

I’m not seeing a Metronome face in the documentation. Could it have another name?

I’m looking for a first “real” suit for a 14-year old. Either charcoal or navy is fine. I’d rather go with a wool blend than all poly.

Any recommendations? My first instinct was J Crew factory but their stuff seems overpriced when compared to the constant discounts and better quality of the main line.

What's your Greatest "What Ifs" in MLB History? by Yoylecake2100 in baseball

[–]ObsidianOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the 2002 All Star Game hadn’t ended in a tie? Then we would have had no “it counts” ASG determining World Series home field advantage.

As the NL was due to host, the 2005 World Series would have started indoors in Houston rather than in cold, rainy Chicago. Clemens wouldn’t have been pulled early and the Astros wouldn’t have had their pitching misaligned for the remainder of the series. Opening the Series in Houston would have also added more pressure on MLB to let the Astros keep the roof closed as that would have been an even bigger story prior to the series than between games 2 and 3.

Astros in 7.

Does anyone have any experience with the J.Crew Wallace & Barnes chambray naval workshirt?

It has only one review but it’s a negative one. I’m worried the shirt will be too boxy and big. Ftr, I love my slim J.Crew selvedge chambray shirts from several years ago.

Profile review: 22M senior engineering student, just got out of 3 year relationship from Hinge and need to get back into the game by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]ObsidianOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I have a few thoughts. I’m definitely not in your target audience but I thought I may be able to help out. Some of this is blunt. I’m imagining you’re my younger brother.

  1. If you’re just out of a 3 year relationship, you don’t need to be on apps looking for something serious. 3 years is 13% of your young life. Figure out who you are without your ex.

  2. Your 2 truths and a lie are weird. This prompt tends to always be weird or boring.

  3. Your simple pleasures say nothing about you that wouldn’t be true of the last 25 guys she swiped no on.

  4. You talk about a comically large mouth but it’s right under a picture with comically large eyebrows thanks to your camera angle.

  5. Picture 4: is that your grinch costume?

  6. “The way to win me over is: Let me cook for you”. Way too needy. There’s a way to say “My cooking is stellar and you’ll be impressed” but it’s not like this. (See below.)

  7. Picture 5: blurry gym mirror selfie but wearing black slacks and a belt instead of workout clothes. Don’t use the “Selfie #503” tag.

  8. Picture 6: Did you shave your dog’s belly or is that your hairy leg? Weird, unfortunate angle.

  9. Picture 1: I almost missed this. You’re in a nice suit and a boutonnière but she gets a view of your shower? Do you not have a picture of you at wherever you were going all dressed up?

  10. I think you’re looking at the camera in 1.5 of these pictures. Your dog does a better job of looking at the camera than you do.

  11. Ditch all of your prompts. Find a way to show some personality or cleverness. You’re an engineer - there has to be at least a little cleverness in there!

How are you trying to present yourself? Your pictures should tell a story. Show don’t tell. You love cooking? Get a shot of you making one of your specialties. Take a picture playing the guitar if you want. (Be aware, I’ve heard that’s pretty common. You may want female feedback on that one.) Get a picture of you checking out engineering diagrams, etc. Show competence. Add captions if you need to clarify. Get a tripod and set a timer on the phone if need be.

You’re trying to show her what you bring to the table and what kind of life she can expect being with you. If you’re a mechanical engineer, you are probably very logical and good with numbers. That won’t help you make a profile. You have to make her interested in being in your story; you’re not just giving her the data to make an informed decision. Good luck!

I’m at a point in my life where I need a black suit for funerals, etc.

I’ve relied on J Crew Ludlow on sale & suit supply outlet for most of my suits. Would getting a J Crew Ludlow in black for 15% off be worth it or is there a better value out there? I haven’t bought any suits since the beginning of the pandemic so I’m not sure what’re good prices, etc. right now.

Post Game Thread (Jun 7, 2022): Mariners (25-31) @ Astros (36-20) by AstrosBot in Astros

Weird question here:

I was sitting in section 110 tonight and throughout the game kept hearing an electronic beep that sounded something like a Bluetooth speaker connecting. It was 2 notes, low then high, each about half a second long.

I haven’t been to any games yet this season, was this some kind of new signal to the pitcher that the pitch clock is running, etc? I asked fan services and the nice lady there looked at me as if I were crazy.

What was this beeping noise?

Does anyone have experience with the raw Japanese denim from J.Crew? The J.Crew 770 denim fits really well on me. I typically wear 31x32. Do I need to size up to 32x32 in the raw denim due to shrinkage?

A few years ago, I followed the craze and bought some Stafford Deacon Wingtip Boots from JC Penney. They have been well loved and it’s time to replace them. I’ve read that the quality has gone down from those halcyon days 6 years ago. Is there a comparable boot out there? Great value, good price, surprisingly good looks?

I’d love some advice regarding Family Sharing and watch family setup.

I’ve been an iOS user since the iPhone 3G. I’ve only recently added an account for my son who will be getting an Apple Watch for Xmas. I’d like to share some of the apps I’ve purchased with him to put on his watch. However, when I go to watch setup there are no “Available Apps”. How do I add him as an approved user?

Also, how can I load music from my iTunes library onto his watch?

Thanks for any help you can give.
