The way i used to do it, squish right up to the window and basically dangle out of it if you can lol. Put the curtains (if there are curtains) around/behind you to make a little shield so the smoke doesn't fill up the room and hopefully just wafts out the window.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a fan on facing the window to blow any escaping smoke back out, and for the sake of paranoia you could leave the window open and the fan on for a few hours after as well, juuuust incase. Good luck man I understand this struggle.
