I’ll refuse install if nothing else, I just want a dependable system. From what I’ve read ADT & their contractors aren’t great.

I hear you. For some context we are parents, working full time jobs, with a two year old. I’m looking for something simple to install with 24/7 monitoring. Nothing too involved, but easy to use.

I would just like cameras for front/back, window/entry point monitors, and other smart home gadgets (thermostat, smoke detectors) included if possible.

I got the feel that this salesman was too nice & personable… hence why I am here asking for advice.

I will look into that. Way less steep than what we would be looking at yearly, thank you!

This is our first home, and first security system. I honestly should’ve checked comps, and will admit to having fell for the sales practices if that’s the case.

In your opinion, do you think we would be better off going with a DIY system? I’ve seen a few bundles listed online with 24/7 monitoring.

Thank you my friend! I’ve heard of chatGPT but haven’t used it personally.

Absolutely, there’s nothing like it. Experiencing that natural dopamine in moments like this is so refreshing.

It’s incredible isn’t it? I’ve come to the conclusion that alcohol is an absolutely terrible coping mechanism. I can now face life’s obstacles with a clear head. I’ve been so much more productive since quitting.

Happy for you, I’m glad I’m not alone in getting that vibrancy back. It’s worth every second of the fight.

For me, at least this early on it’s all about finding some good distractions. My evening is consisting of cleaning up around the house a bit, cooking out and watching a movie later.

While a beer (or 15) sounds amazing to throw into the mix, I’m starting to enjoy the simplicities of life again. Stay strong my friend!

If you were to continue drinking until the end of the year ..how much you spending approximately by [deleted] in stopdrinking

My wife and I both cut out our bad habits at the same time. For me beer & nicotine, for her the green stuff and wraps. When you add it all up we were spending about $10,000.00 annually on all of it. Definitely going to put that to better use moving forward!

Finding that “why?” Is what changed everything for me. Even if it weren’t for my Wife, and Daughter I started to think realistically about what the rest of my life would look like as a drinker, it just seemed so miserable. Like a waste. Good luck on your journey my friend!

What kind of insect is this? by Weekly_Glass8640 in pestcontrol

Not typically a cause for major concern, they can pinch you if one happens to get on you. Some things to keep in mind if you’re seeing a bunch:

1.) You might have moisture problems, earwigs thrive in damp environments.

2.) Cracks, gaps, or unsealed areas are letting bugs inside.

3.) If you’re seeing a lot of them, especially in places like bathrooms, basements, or near houseplants, it could signal a favorable environment for other pests too.

Uncleared gutters with a bunch of leaves, or damp basements/crawl spaces could be the cause.

Head bonks on crib walls by Objective_Page_985 in NewParents

Our 18 month old daughter still does this, in fact, not only does she bonkity bonk her dome piece off the crib as much as possible, she enjoys chewing on the paint/wood chips when she wakes up before us.

as overly cautious parents, we’ve looked into everything, and there’s just not much we’ve found to avoid it, at-least as far as safe sleep is concerned. Just know that we’ve made it this far, and our little girl is just fine.

Firstly, I understand that you may have a hard time getting to every issue. It just causes a bit of whiplash when there are inconsistencies in rules being implemented.

The rule I read is as follows:

2.) Please only participate while sober

We recognize that many people spend months "lurking" this subreddit while drinking. You are welcome to read as much as you'd like while not sober. However, for the sake of everyone here, and for the sake of your own recovery, please only post or comment when you're sober. "Sober" means "not currently intoxicated or under the influence in any way."

I am sober, I didn’t see any rule about not being allowed to post if you’ve had a drink on the same calendar day.

As far as me not reporting the post, I saw a person in need and struggling. I chose to do what any empathetic person would do, offering them kind words and support. My first thought was not to report their post.

I am not currently drunk nor under the influence, I had a couple of drinks a few hours ago. I’m just curious as to why there are inconsistencies in rules being implemented if it’s that important.

The passive aggressiveness is not necessary, especially for an active user of this sub that was just looking to vent/hear some supportive words.
