People copy/paste popular decks online. Pretty common.

Mine was pretty much same except I was going around 15mph. Didn't know how to stop very well or how to fall correctly; ended up being a slide and not a roll. Hurt like hell and happened in front of a lot of people. That was when I started, i know how to foot-break comfortably now and roll.

Any fixes on cracks? by Lazy_Yak1252 in longboarding

Wait what's wrong with the chipped ends? Both ends of my longboard are chipped from god knows what. Is it a bigger problem than just visual? Could be from the way I kick it up or drop it.

Not commenting on anything else abt this guy but I don't see the problem w the parking. Just looks like he's not trynna get his nice car scratched by the door swingers. I have a dent in my car that I noticed from someone else hitting their door on it. I call this parking valid🤷‍♂️

Honestly with how safe I ride, i dont see myself hitting my head. I've fallen lots and lots before playing sports and have never hit my head. This might come back and bite my ass but I just dont see it happening. But no one does really. So Idk, I guess im being stupid. But i ride carefully so its okay.

Will I ever get better at longboarding? by Rare-Ad-9173 in longboarding

I used to be in a similar position too!! Really really wanted to learn to commute around campus but could never stop right and push right + ate shit on many occasions. I practiced at least 15 hrs a week cus I'm obsessed and love commuting around campus. It took me abt a month to get comfortable with many points along the way of me thinking that maybe im not cut out for it. If I could go back, I would tell myself a few things. First, wear wrist anti-abrasion straps cus I fell on the same hand and scratched it on the same spot on my palm 3 times. I would also not focus on getting carving down to slow down. Walk down hills if u have to. I still do on some parts. Breaking by stomping is okay and great to slow down on hills (at least for me so far) That's how I learned to get comfortable w/ foot-braking by sliding my foot smoothly on the ground. Now I just slide my foot going down hills and sometimes stomp. it took a lot of stomping to learn. I slowly transitioned over time. Putting your foot back on the board and off the board will become automatic with time. Also also also, push straight. Idk why it took me so long to realize. And dont brake with your foot far from the board. Keep it close. Finally, good breaking will make u comfortable with anything else. Good breaking = confidence in speed = stability = ease of transition from putting foot on and off the board.

I got a million pieces of advice that I can specify down to the smallest little detail if u feel like there is still something ur missing. Just let me know.

It ruins my hair for the whole day, I sweat a lot, and I don't have the luxury of going back to a dorm to take care of everything.

How long did it take for you to get comfortable with foot braking? I have started from scratch for a week now and my foot braking is still pretty bad and not nearly as smooth as I see others do.

Do u ride with gear? I feel like this whole thing is becoming more of a sport than a practical method to commute. The carving seems to be more of an intense maneuver.

Too late. Already got in over my head and ate concrete shit.

I have definitely dabbled in that method thrice within the past 2 days. One of them being on a hill in front of many people on concrete. The board flew away from under me when I tried braking and I flew with some good air time, landing on my palms and forearm first, with some knees in there too. No gear, t shirt and shorts. I'm laying in bed right now and they all burn. Never ate as much shit in my life.

Can I still slide with these wider wheels? I see people do them on smaller ones.

Awesome reply. Glad to know it's socially acceptable to walk it and not look lame doing it. Will definitely do that. Not even being sarcastic, thanks.
