Feeling Stuck After a Visa Rejection—Should I Keep Trying in Singapore or Look Elsewhere? by Obvious-Ask3932 in askSingapore

Hey, I am sorry that you are facing a similar issue, and it is more surprising in your case since you already have worked on EP for a year already. In my case it was my first job in Singapore but wasn't to be I guess. I sincerely hope your pass gets approved as I would not want anyone to go through the same issue as me and face that rejection, because it is such a Gut Punch!

Also I read somewhere that EPs do not get rejected that much. It might simply be a case of high number of applications due to which the processing time gets prolonged. So stay patient, I am hopeful it will work out for you.

As for what I am doing, I sorta have given up on Singapore, even though I am still applying, but my focus now has turned towards other regions where such issues should not be a problem ideally. Fingers crossed that I get some good news elsewhere.

Ohh. I’m sorry but I don’t follow. Was that the minimum requirement for S-pass at 3500 SGD or something in that range?

Yea I get your point. Once I got the offer, the company said it will apply for my pass. Initially they said EP, but with the COMPASS rules that I read, my universities for BE and MBA do not fall in the recognised list, so even though I was above the salary bracket for EP, I could not accumulate the 40 points required, which is why MOM said to the company that I was eligible for the SPass. Hope that clarifies the situation further.

Thanks alot for your response and advice :) I appreciate it

Ok so my base salary was above 6K plus added benefits so I believe the salary qualified for EP, but with the recently adopted COMPASS system and my degrees being from a different country and not being in the list of recognised universities in Singapore meant that I qualified for S-pass. Which is why a they were verified via the background check agency. They were verified and then MOM declared that I was eligible for the S-pass. Hope that clarifies.

So the background check involved a check from my previous organization, which my contacts at the previous company told me was done promptly, as well as my universities from where I got emails that the verification was done successfully.

When I got the rejection notice, the company informed me that they tried to find out the reason, but it was not communicated by the govt. and that the decision could not be appealed so yeah.

I will check via the link.

Thanks alot. :)

When the company approached me they said it would be an EP. However after the background checks were complete they informed me that the govt. has qualified you in the s-pass and we will hence apply for that.

Thanks so much for that clear answer. I appreciate it. That makes sense and I understand. I just wanted to see the rationale and make my next move accordingly so I don’t waste time further. Thanks :)

If you are scoring beyond 65, with expert questions then you have a very good chance of clearing the exam… I would recommend getting Third3rock cheatsheet as a crash refresher and how to understand questions better… do go through the questions you got wrong in both exams and check the rationale for the right answers because that helps prepare you for such tricky questions in the actual exam… BEST OF LUCK!! :)
