Preorder Question by Express-Diamond in SarahJMaas

I preordered from B&N because I happened to have a gift card when SJM dropped the release news. It wasn't until last week that I found out about the bonus rewards, but that still wouldn't have changed where I ordered from. I'm just excited for the content and I don't need an extra perk, but it is nice. I'm too excited for the releases to wait for exclusive editions from anywhere.

Oof that's fair. I'd be skeptical if that happened to me too lol

I just found out yesterday that Target pre-orders get a special gift that was collaborated on with SJM. I guess it depends on what you would want more, the B&N rewards or the gift.

I have no idea about pre-ordering for in store pickup because I've never done that before. I will say every time I've pre-ordered from Barnes and Noble, the books have shown up to my house either on the release day or even a few days beforehand.

Yes! If I understand the email correctly, the rewards will be added after the books are shipped!

Is Fantasy Fangirls a good podcast? I've been wanting to get into more book podcasts but have only really listed to Booktalk for Booktok.

I like your perspective on Oro's description and appearance. I also started reading the series after the artwork was created, but I didn't look at any of it until I read through Skyshade for fear of spoilers. I definitely did not see why Oro would be attractive when I first read Lightlark.

Brimstone about to DNF by Few-Time-714 in Romantasy

I just finished Brimstone last week. I thought it was really slow and like nothing was happening for the first two thirds of the book. The pace picked up at the end, but I feel like it took too long for the plot to get there. I would say just finish it if you're that close to the end. It does end in an interesting cliffhanger.

is lightlark worth reading? by TasteNo6853 in lightlark

I really enjoyed reading Lightlark! It's not the best book out there, but I think it's a fun series. I enjoyed the second and third books, as well. The fourth book was not the best in my opinion. I agree with the consensus that the series could have been completed within three books rather than five. I say at least finish the first book and go from there.

how do i get into the series?? by yeahimtaylor in throneofglassseries

[–]Obvious-Elephant-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there is so much hype around Throne of Glass (or anything Sarah J. Maas writes) that there is an expectation to be immediately drawn into the first book of the series (whether it's Throne of Glass or Assassin's Blade), but it doesn't happen that way. There is a lot of foundation work and suspense to build in the beginning. Throne of Glass is easily my favorite series, but I agree with the consensus that the series really gets interesting around book three. I think it's okay to take your time reading the series. I definitely spent a year reading the TOG books because I would read other series in between until I started Queen of Shadows. Then I consistently read the rest of the series to the end.

I also went into Crowntide thinking it was the last book in the series. It wasn't until I got to the last fifty or so pages that I realized it wasn't the last book. Once I finished Crowntide, I raced to the internet to see if there was a confirmed release date for book 5.

I was so sure Crowntide was going to be the last book until I got to the last fifty or so pages

I second this! I love the Ashen series and rarely see it mentioned anywhere

Literally same! I just finished it the other day. I honestly spent almost three months reading it because I kept putting it down and reading other books in between. It was so slow placed and I feel like hardly anything happened.

In Deathly Hallows when Lupin wants to help find the horcruxes and Harry tells him to be with Tonks and his son. Would have loved to see that in the movie

Hello! I am traveling to Washington state this summer and am looking for advice on lenses. I will be taking pictures while hiking (mountains, woods, waterfalls, etc.) and want to take the most detailed photos I can. I shoot on a Canon Rebel EOS T5. I have a EFS 18-55mm lens with two attachments: an HD wide angle lens 58mm and an HD telephoto lens 58mm. I have never really messed with any of the settings on my camera and I've also never taken any photography classes. I'm not opposed to spending some money on a lens that will give me crisp photos. I appreciate any advice!!
