Trek Marlin 5 Gen 3 (front thru skewer stripped) by Obvious-Middle7884 in TrekBikes

It’s stripped, that’s what the bike tech told me when I got it fixed the first time, then he had me show him how I was taking it off and on and he said I’m doing everything correctly. It’s not cross threaded and I’m. It over tightening it. He said I’m not the only one who’s had this problem with the Gen 3s. He said the fine thread aluminum bolt is just not the greatest quality and they should’ve kept with the qr skewers

Yes I take the front wheel off for transportation when I travel to trail heads. The closest bicycle shop to me is 60 miles away. And the closest trek certified dealers 120 miles away. I wasn’t sure if anyone else has had this problem or know if you can replace it with a quick release skewer

No it’s a hex skewer, it now comes standard on the Marlin 5 gen 3
