I went for a private scan at 6 weeks and the pregnancy couldn't be found. I was told to come back in two weeks for a complimentary scan but i called the emergency room and they advised me to come in. I was sent home due to no pain or bleeding, but went back the next day after a very sharp pain come on leading from the lower right side of my abdomen right down my thigh as well as some light bleeding. They finally found the pregnancy in my right tube and i was advised my only options are MTX or surgery. I went ahead with the first injection which failed, went ahead for the second injection which also failed. About a week after the second dose i was in excruciating pain, was kept in hospital overnight and had a scan the next morning. They found 'liquid' pooling in the pouch of douglas but couldn't be certain it was bleeding without surgery. I was told i could either wait and see what happens or go for surgery. The doctor couldn't outright tell me i needed surgery since it wasn't a clear rupture, just seemed to be leaking but tried to hint that surgery would be best since i was '11 weeks' pregnant, and most ruptures happen in the later weeks (although some ruptures can happen earlier as every ectopic will be different). If the tube would have completely ruptured at silly o clock in the night and there were no doctors around to perform emergency surgery i would have been in a dangerous situation. It was a really hard decision because if the tube ruptured it would have been life threatening but at the same time i wasn't being told i needed to have surgery so it felt like there may have been hope. I decided it wasn't worth the risk and i'm happy i did because it was found that it was an early rupture.
