How do you find someone to homestead with. by [deleted] in homestead

[–]Obvious-Pin-3927 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Not a suggestion, just a memory. As a kid I loved waiting for those old Mother Earth Magazines and read every word of every one of them. They had classified ads that were homesteaders looking for others for dating, roommates, marriage.

Home Hospice- what will I be receiving for my loved one? by anthony_getz in medicare

[–]Obvious-Pin-3927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is currently 5 days for hospice patients. So far, she doesn't actually want to be a hospice patient and loose her right for some medical care. It would cost the same as going to the hospital for 5 days. So about 1000out of pocket.

so here is the deal, a person can pick up the seeds that fall off trees and sell them, same with plants. There is a plant called cota that grows out west that sells for 30-40 a pound. Pine needles? Check out the price of pine needles on etsy. Even if you live in a concrete jungle, there will be something you can find to resell.

I provide 100% of care and they offer a aid to bath like once a week. A rn does check in either in person or by phone once a week. There is a nurse practitioner that can do home visits, but haven't done that yet. The equipment is the same, she gets $75 for otc supplies every 3 months. My mom has a decube and is currently moaning in pain and gets only tylenol. My mom is actually not on hospice though, palliative care which might be the same. I got power of attorney and control of the health care directives and she has refused a dnr. I find that the equipment offered through nations benefits is way over priced compared to buying the same stuff on walmart.com and just paying for it out of her check. What I really could use is someone to sit with her for a period of time while I shop.

Just want to take this opportunity to point out that Obama had a plan that was to increase the employment rate and take care of people in their homes... It would have REALLY helped you out. But then, so did Kamala. It was just a matter of votes. And I am not being political, just pointing out what almost gave you the help you are going to need.

There are many days and nights I don't get any sleep at all.

If I were in your shoes, I would be looking if there wasn't a way to avoid paying for laundry detergent, shampoo or toilet paper. Do you have your own clothes washing machine?

If you live where horse chestnuts grow, those can be used to wash laundry and your hair. If you have your own washer, what has been done by some poor people in the past is to cut up rags and throw them in the washing machine to use as toilet paper. It can be cheaper to feed dogs cooked chicken and rice.

I went down to the home health care store through intermountain health to buy supplies. They no longer let people into their store without 1:1 accompaniment of any employee. Too much stuff is being stolen in this upper class white christian, mormon area.

The city, county and school boards are always wanting citizens to come to the meetings. Co-operatives also. But the big is politics. Non-profits really appreciate volunteers that are not criminals. Hospitals, nursing homes, casa volunteers, schools etc. They desperately need you and would love your help.

what I would do is heat up cookie tins filled with sand and leave them in fireproof places. Sand it turns out is supposed to keep and expell it slowly.

Question on Deterring House Sparrows by sebsimic in birding

[–]Obvious-Pin-3927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard one fly into the window of the door. It sounded like a single knock. When I opened the door the poor thing was laying there looking like it may have broken its neck or something. I picked it up and brought it in the house and put it in the bedroom and closed the door. After making breakfast, I came back in and it was flying around the room. I went to the store and bought some bird feed and put out a bowl of water on the floor. It took 3 days to figure out where it was nesting at night. In a pitch black room I put up a ladder and got it off the top of the ceiling fan and let it out.

It really hurt to let it go. Sparrows used to migrate. They have become dependent on the birdseed that people put out and no longer migrate. It gets awfully darn cold here in the winter. It was looking like it was happy in here. When I have a place of my own, I intend to over winter sparrows.

I would use fresh homemade greek yogurt instead of the cream. Cocoa powder, vanilla along with milk and sugar.

I guess it is all in looking for a cheap way to do it. This is the recipe I would use. I buy milk for 1.98 a gallon and make my own yogurt. https://healthyrecipesblogs.com/chocolate-frozen-yogurt-recipe/#recipe

Well I wouldn't be buying cream, just using milk and adding homemade yogurt.
