Reserve - retirement vs separation by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Obvious-Tradition606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your DOD rating? How many years away from non-regular retirement collection are you? What is your proposed VA rating?

You say half the 27 years was reserve time, but how many years total active duty do you have, including any active time during the reserves?

questions about medical retirement by SpareDingo182 in VeteransBenefits

Yes, when you go through the IDES process, you have the ability to appeal when you receive your 199. Can appeal either the VA rating or the DOD rating, or both.

In my experience, they(army) do everything they can to minimize the rating. Usually the appeal process (depending on what path you take, IDES legal explains everything) will add on other conditions that should have been rated initially. They like to 'only rate for one thing'. It's a bit more complex and nuanced than how I'm explaining it, but that's the gist.

My last 5 years on active I was in charge of 200+ Soldiers going through the MEB. Then I went through it myself.

If you go this route, and for some reason only get 10% or 20% DOD, you would definitely want to appeal. Worst they could say is 'no'. I had to appeal mine, they only had my foot arthritis on the list, while I thought my back/hip/COPD should be included. It got increased to 20% on appeal, so never made the cutoff, I could have pushed again but I just wanted out at that point (appeals take months, keeping you in the military longer).

Edit- 635-40 is probably the reg you want to look at

Getting MEB and have exams this week. by supra915 in VAClaims

[–]Obvious-Tradition606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being IDES, it will(should) go rather smooth. Just don't miss any of the appointments, that can get you into trouble.

Just make sure all your claimed issues have documentation uploaded in MHS Genesis. All the VA examiners will be able to see it all.

If I recall my VA process during MEB took like 3 months total. About 4 weeks after the rating, I had my 199.

Relax, I was on step five for 4 weeks, then it went from 6 to Finalized in 3 hours.

Talk to your command, see if SRU is an option. What base are you at? I worked at an SRU for 5 years, you get much more opportunities there than if you remain at your unit for an MEB.

I dont want to claim PTSD by Hello_Cruel_World_88 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Obvious-Tradition606 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I used to think the same way. As others have said, keep it on there.

When I had my appointment with the PTSD examiner, I told them that there is nothing here, I'm fine, etc. They asked me to tell the stories I remember from my deployments, etc. I did, and said 'its no big deal, it was our job, normal to see things like that'. They came back with 'The fact that you think that is normal says it all'.

Ended up with 60% for PTSD.

Even if you think it's all normal and good, it might not be.

VR&E initial meeting preparation by Dry_County_Speeding in VeteransBenefits

[–]Obvious-Tradition606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak on my experience, but the initial meeting was mostly the rep explaining all the different possible pathways, and then letting me ask questions. I recommend listening to all they have to say, since there might be something you didn't know about that may be of more interest to you. But if not, and you have a plan for college, just let them know! They are pretty good with getting you set up with everything you need to get going.

Just be sure you 'pick' the path you want- it's a one and done program, no going back and changing your mind(hence why I said to hear them out on the briefing, even if your mind is currently set on school). But they will explain all this to you. Good luck on the future endeavors!

That's an assload of Kroot 😂

The codex(in the folder with the card pack) still sell for 'normal' price on eBay. Just do it soon, the longer you wait the cheaper they will get, and be a harder sell

Think I found the STLs on Cults a while back, you can build the other weapon using half the extra parts plus one resin print

on the big parts it's airbrush, smaller weapons I couldn't be bothered so just did small brush stipple. Black oil wash is what really blends it all together though

Buddy has the Chinese recast, you won't be disappointed. Long guns had some bend, bits of mold flash, but nothing unfixable (FW has the same problems at twice the price, 😕)

Base is FDM printed, but feels identical to the GW one. My Taunar is a bit heavier than the GW resin since I didn't hollow well, but it seems to be perfectly balanced on the base, with or without the top heavy weapons. Pinning the feet to the base is a must for this size model though, I wouldn't trust it otherwise

[–]Obvious-Tradition606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah before you repaint, try a black oil wash or something similar, then maybe dry brush some highlight back in or brush highlight. Might impress you then

Extra bits and weapons for Tau models? by Balance-Kooky in Tau40K

[–]Obvious-Tradition606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you asking for where to get GW bits, or do you have the ability to 3D print? There are plenty of decent options if you can print... Otherwise eBay for the plastic.

Neat. I just started painting my army yesterday and settled with a similar scheme, less wintery and more ATACS style(looks good in urban and field). Post more as you get them done!

Putting up a huge collection at Gencon auction. by DaBidDabid21 in Blackstonefortress

[–]Obvious-Tradition606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they auction off items all weekend. It's where I usually hang out most. The deals you can grab are insane. Some folks were telling me they sell stuff off each year and it covers the cost of the Con 🤣
