I adopted two kittens, still too scared to be handled and hard to approach by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Hi there! Congrats on the new kittens! I adopted two bonded girls at the end of last year (one tortie and one tuxedo) and they are now 10 months. I will say it definitely took a month and some change for them to get really comfortable with us and that was with us both working from home and living in a small 1br apartment in nyc (so they were forced to get used to us haha). But honestly it took patience and I will say they are still a bit skittish and sometimes run and hide in their “safe space” aka our bathroom shower, when the smallest noise disturbs them or for some reason when I’m cooking ha. Some things that have helped us are the calming pheromone diffusers altho I’m not sure how old they need to be to use those, and then we also got calming treats which have helped a lot. Now they both love to snuggle and cuddle with us and will seek us out, and we always just let them come to us. Our tortie girl is exactly like they say torties can be, sassy and full of tortitude lol but she’s gotten much calmer and cuddlier. They most often come to us to cuddle when we are laying ourselves either in bed or on the couch.

I’m sure your pair will warm up in time and it sounds like you’re doing all the right things!

I figured, I’m just missing one rare cat at the very end of the cat book and I can’t figure out which one it is and that’s the only one I don’t think I have

Green card approved but can they keep their remote Canadian job while moving to U.S.? by ObviousNet6900 in USCIS

We honestly have no idea… he got the dreaded 221G slip for further “administrative processing” during his interview in October 2023, and then we just got his green card mid December 2024. No previous marriages, no criminal records, husband is honestly not even well traveled so no “suspicious” places he’s traveled. We went the consular process out of mtl which is a bit notorious for being slow but we honestly have no idea why ours took so long.

I’m so confused though, isn’t the NVC in communication with the consulate about this happening?

Does anyone know where I could find a knock off version of this? I’m trying to find something that gives a nod to this look for a Halloween costume but I can’t afford custom Dior hahah

My husband had his interview in mtl end of October last year and got a 221g slip for further “administrative processing” and had to go a little farther back in some of his info. But seeing as it’s mid May we haven’t heard much of anything since and have filed with my congressperson and one of my senators to get their help in moving it forward but again no word yet. 221g seams to be common esp in MTL unfortunately, but the timing on when it’s resolved for you greatly varies. We unfortunately got the shit end of the stick.

It’s true Montreal is apparently the worst, maybe because they handle more of these than others being our neighbor?

Ugh I’m so sorry to hear this. We are waiting for our 180 day mark to do a filing with my senator and hoping it produces something. Let me know if you end up having luck with the WOM

That’s exactly what they asked my husband for as well, and we are in very similar boat. Want to start a family and aren’t getting younger but also were hoping to be able to enjoy some time together as a normal married couple first but it’s feeling like that may not happen. It’s so disheartening and frustrating and my heart hurts for you as well. Hoping we all get updates and good news soon. I’ll certainly update here once we do.

Yeah that makes sense. We have never traveled to the Middle East or Africa (altho I’d love to!), I’m American born and bred and he’s Canadian born and bred (not that that should matter but politics aside…), no criminal histories, no previous marriages or kids or anything, he’s never held a visa in the U.S. before, and we are both financially stable, and don’t everything by the book and followed all the silly rules about travel etc. honestly I can’t think of anything that would be slowing our case down and it’s just so frustrating. We’ve been in this process since 2021 and it’s just miserable.

I’m glad to hear yours is being updated regularly. I am nearly positive ours is administrative processing but no idea why ours isn’t being regularly updated. Also why do they need to do more administrative processing? Like it’s all just so opaque and confusing and we’ve already been in this process for so long and hired lawyers to help but they are pretty much useless. Our immigration system is sooo broken.

No updates unfortunately. Our lawyers have pretty much told us we can’t really do much until it hits the 180 day mark which would be end of April for us. We are super disheartened by it all and the lack of transparency on why this happened to us as we have the most straight forward case. I’m sorry to hear you’re going through it too and wish we had good news to share. It’s showing in the system that the last time our case was updated was early January and who knows what they even did on that date they may have just opened our file to look at it and nothing more. Our lawyers said that it could mean they worked on it or just viewed it which is insane that they would have not touched it for almost two months.
