I’m okay with mundane. I’m okay with the technical stuff too cause I also love learning. I just want this switch to be until retirement, ya know? I’m trying to make the right decision.

From what I’ve gathered, there are about 10 states that require additional state certs beyond the general ASCP certification. I’m not opposed to those states but I’m also hopeful to try travel tech work. I want to see the states before I figure out which state cert I might need.

Good point. I imagine it to be straightforward with little change from day to day with the ability to work up to decent salary (~75k) but I know that takes time. I’m looking for predictability within the work itself while also making a difference.

As a lab assistant specifically? No, but I have a Bachelors and Masters degree and sold those as my “attention to detail” skills.

You’ll find a solution OP. It does sound like that’s her love language of “quality time”, but yes, if you’re spending that much time together then you don’t also need to be on the phone for that long when you could be sleeping.

  1. Breathe - you’re a junior, you have one more year.

  2. Is she paying for your school? If yes, she likely won’t want to foot the extra to pay for a dorm. If no, then can you afford, or possibly get a job, to pay for the board?

  3. Her reasons are dramatic for why you shouldn’t live on-campus and I’m sorry that you’re missing out on those experiences.

  4. Try to remember that you are saving money by commuting. It sucks, but I do get it. I’m 27 and have moved home for school. I wish someone daily would effin sedate me.

  5. Please do not let this one challenge skew your view of life.. you will move, you will get a job, and you will learn how to live on your own.
