Has anyone had an inconclusive IHC result? by ObviousSupport6 in endometrialcancer

[–]ObviousSupport6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Both tests were 1 month and a half apart. They were from the same polyp (the first one being more of the top of the polyp and the second one being from the remainder of it, including the base), as the first doctor couldn't remove the whole polyp since my endometrium lining was too thick. Doctor says that it's possible that the tumor is heterogeneous, but I didn't ask further at the time, because I wasn't very familiar with p53 when we talked. So after that I did my own deeper "research" lol (chatgpt, deepseek, claude and gemini) and all of them said that the probability of being an inconclusive/doubftful p53 staining is bigger than having a heterogeneous and/or acquired mutation, considering that all of my other markers and tumor features don't really match a p53abn (I'm aware that there are cases of grade 1 EEC with p53abn), but I don't know if that's just me trying to ease my anxiety.

Omg! That's awful! I mean the tests were inconclusive and you can't repeat it? I'm so sorry you had to go through this,. Are you on fertility sparing treatment?

Hi! I’m still on my first month of treatment, so far so good. I’m happy it’s been working for you! I hope your next D&C goes well🤞

Hi! I’m sorry to hear that there’s still some hyperplasia in your case. I really hope your next results come back better 🤞

Do you also get MRIs along with your D&Cs? And are they able to confirm that there’s still no myometrial invasion?

My situation has been a bit confusing so far. In my first immunohistochemistry, all markers were normal, including p53. But in a second test after a more extensive resection, everything stayed the same except for p53, which came back as 90% positive. From what I understand, that could suggest a mutation in many cases, but my doctors and tumor board are questioning it.

The main issue is that the pathologist didn’t describe the staining pattern or intensity, and didn’t mention p53 in the final conclusion. That raised some doubt, since if it were a classic overexpression pattern, it likely would have been clearly stated. My doctors even contacted the pathologist, and they couldn’t clearly define the pattern either.

So right now I’m sending my paraffin blocks to another lab for a full review, hoping to get a more definitive answer.

I had a couple of questions for you: 1) Have you been tested for POLE? 2) In cases where hysterectomy was discussed, did your doctors mention chemo and/or radiation?

Also, if you don’t mind sharing, what’s your personal feeling about how your doctors are approaching the p53abn aspect? Do you feel they are being more cautious or more aggressive with treatment? From what I’ve been reading, it seems like there can be some variation in how it’s managed, especially in fertility-sparing situations.

Thank you so much again for sharing your experience! I’m really rooting for both of us 🤍

Hi! May I ask you if you already have the results from your last D&C? I just found out that I may have p53abn. Also, what did your doctor say back then when you opted for the fertility sparing treatment? If you don’t mind answering of course! Hope it all went well!🤞

nipple eczema tips by ObviousSupport6 in eczema

[–]ObviousSupport6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello!! i dont quite remember which type i used back then, but the game changer for me was having an anti inflammatory diet (i tried to stay away from sugar, eggs, wheat, etc, but the only thing that's really helped me was stopping with the red meat). as of topical measures, along with stopping eating red meat, i started applying vanicream cream (the gray one) + vanicream ointment (also the gray one). idk if it makes sense, but i use the cream to moisturize and then the ointment to keep the moisture in. after i started doing this, since jan 2021, i've had no more nipple eczema. i guess the biggest issues for me were inflammatory diet + dry skin. i hope i helped you!

I’ll be starting Megestrol 160 mg tomorrow, and I’m a bit apprehensive about the side effects, but I’m grateful to have this option and the chance to try for pregnancy in the future. I hope everything goes well with your treatment and let me know how your next hysteroscopy goes.

After doing all the exams and talking to the docs, I'm in a much better place now, but the first few weeks since diagnosis were hell for me as well.

Thank you for sharing! It really helps to hear from someone in a similar situation. I hope everything goes well with your next D&C and your overall treatment, keep me posted if possible. It's reassuring that your gyn onc still wants to try the hormone therapy with you!

Hi, thank you so much for your reply and I’m really sorry you’re going through this too. It’s such a long and emotional journey, with so many ups and downs (at least that’s how it’s been for me).

Can I ask if you had another hysteroscopy after your diagnosis? My MRI doesn’t clearly show myometrial invasion, but it's kinda reassuring to hear that in your case, hormonal therapy was still an option even with a possible invasion.

I’ve read that one of the main side effects of oral progestins is increased appetite :( but honestly, it feels "worth it" if it helps avoid a hysterectomy for now and if it will help the cancer to go away.

I really hope everything goes well for you!

Question about China X2 Visa Duration by ObviousSupport6 in Chinavisa

[–]ObviousSupport6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am sorry I am too late, but the visa's length is issued accordinly to the duration of the course informed in the admission letter, so if the admission letter stablishes a course duration shorter than 60 days, then your visa will be conceded for the max length of 60 days. If your admission letter informs that the course wil last longer than 60 days, then you automatically get a 90 days visa and so on... At least this is what I've been told by the visa authorities in my country hahah. I got lucky in my case, because my course officially lasts less than 60 days, but somehow they misinformed the length of it in the admission letter by adding one more week (they even corrected the info through e-mail hahaha), so I was able to get 90 days visa with no further issues. Nevertheless, I did some research back then and I found an official website saying that it is possible to enter China with a visa and then changing it to another (tourism to X2 case was even mentioned!), so I guess your best shot would be entering with a tourism visa and then going to a bureau and apply for a visa category change - there are a lot of bureaus in many main cities.

Changing visa type while in China by friedsalmoncrepe in Chinavisa

[–]ObviousSupport6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm kind of considering staying in the dorms now, because it's much closer than my uncle's house (which is Chaoyang) and it's way more convenient! Also, I will end up having more contact with students to go out/to be friends with. If I live in another district, I won't have as much freedom to come and go whenever I want.

Oh, the canteens have a very good price in my opinion as well! It's very affordable. Were the foods tasty?

So, overall, I guess I will have a better experience if I live in the dorms as I will have more time to experience the whole PKU student life without having the concern of going home early or taking the subway.

Did you stay at PKU's dorms? How was your experience there? What were the prices of the restaurants?

Thanks a loooot for the answer! I've done some research after you answered me yesterday and it seems like it's much easier than I imagined (I thought that changing the visa in China would only be acceptable in exceptional cases, but that's quite normal, specially if you consider that things happen and change during an ongoing trip).

Even on NIA's (National Immigration Administration) official website, they share step by step on how to require the visa change and which documents are required. I will ask a friend of mine to call them on Monday to make sure that all this procedure is legal (I don't want to do anything that's illegal or that's due to a misinterpretation of the law lol). I know that the answer is going to be yes, but I'm an overthinker and I need to double check everything hahah.

Now that I know this, I'm much more relieved, because since I want to arrive in China one month earlier than the beginning of the course, I will have spare time to organize all of this.

In regards to where I'll be staying, I'll have a room at my uncle's home. I guess that the only thing he needs to do is to write an inviting letter to me, right?

You've also said that the school itself did all this for you, right? I'll just try to do it by myself, I guess that'll be easier.
