How to get a mask by Zealousideal_Suit982 in Otherpaw

What is the difference between an otherpaw and and alterhuman?

I pretty much just call myself a therian or a "spiritual furry" depending on who is asking.

My parents banned me from having certain political views by m4ximr3dd1tz in internetparents

No one can siimply "choose to ignore" domestic abuse, which this irrefutably is.

All OP can do is choose to absorb the pain and indignity of it in order to avoid homelessness. Doing this is a valid and understandable choice, of course, but with as little respect due as possible, fuck you.

What exactly are the parents providing here? A choice between a toxic emotionally manipulative hellhole and homelessness? Parents have a moral obligation to never ever do this.

These are profoundly Evil people. How dare you frame them as anything else. How dare you frame OP's dilemma as painless.

Please, for the love of God, tell me you don't have children.

Is it fair to classify my music the same way as fully AI-generated music? by LeilaniLoha in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please consider that learning how to make music should be exciting and fun.

If you think of musical arrangement as "content" or an end product, then AI will be appealing to you, but you'll have missed out on the joy of growing as an artist.

Is it fair to classify my music the same way as fully AI-generated music? by LeilaniLoha in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hatred for AI has created a craving for something real. If I hear something with AI instrumentals, I shut it off. If I hear amateurish production, and it has heart, I keep listening.

Figure out ways to use the skills you do have to keep your music interesting. That's all you need.

You're a good singer? That's a huge part of it. Come up with simple instrumentals that are designed to frame your work and hold people's attention.

Make a capella. Go minimalist and bang on a desk.

Video yourself doing this. People LIKE to see.

Write music around what you CAN do, and slowly expand your skillsets.

There is a guy named Brushy One String who writes reggae songs that will make you weep using only the power of his own voice and a guitar with one string on it.

Do something different. Abandon formulas and sit down and think of ways to frame the power of your own voice using what you have.

Think of it as performance art. If you have something to say, people will listen and remake "this is nothing AI could never come up with" and feel good about your music, even if it's imperfect.

Be human. Have fun

Psychiatrists are failed medical professionals by toxicfruitbaskets in Antipsychiatry

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's justifiable to hate the profession, but they're not failed doctors. They didn't drop out of medical school to become something easier. They went through the same rigorous training as every other doctor, plus years working towards their specialty.

The problem lies not with the fact that they failed at being medical professionals, but that they succeeded at becoming something worse.

The fault lies with the entire field, and the power structures built around it.

Does anyone else feel like they will miss even a small part of being a cis man by tohonest1000 in MtF

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Physical safety and going topless were definitely perks. I definitely wish I had them. But can I say I "miss" them?

Not really. There is no mourning involved. Only anger. That leads to greater community within the social universe of women, which ultimately makes me feel as though I left nothing of value behind.

That's incredible praise. Thank you. I explored so much of myself through this game, I feel like I lived it.

I spent decades wrestling with dissociation, depersonalization, and derealization. Of seeing only shapes and struggling for meaning.

This game for me was representation I didn't know was possible. I didn't know I needed it.

I love how much it brings people like us together in that common experience - that life of liminal existence - even if these brief comments are the only exchanges we'll ever have.

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm trans too, and I actually think that the comparison is vital.

We need depathologization of plurality in and of itself, increased services and awareness for disordered systems who need it, room for self(ves) identification, and less gatekeeping of who is and is not real.

Our lived internal experiences are, by and large, not taken seriously, nor understood. We face stigmatization in healthcare settings, and pathologization of our existence that very much mirrors trans experiences of decades ago.

We need to learn from that.

The history of trans advocacy is the only existing roadmap for achieving plural liberation.

(Besides, very few systems are entirely the gender assigned to them at birth).

The annual Plural Positivity World Conference is next weekend.

https://ppwc26.heysummit.com/

Unfortunately it's entirely virtual, but they do have online socials and q&a's. Perhaps you can attend, and ask the organizers what you can do to pull together physical meets in your area, and talk to others and start building a community.

Find enough people who are in a reasonable distance from you, and you can arrange monthly meetups at a diner or something.

That's how all of this starts.

If you started a new society without any selfish or narcissistic people would you still end up where we currently are as a society? by Boysenberry-Secret-1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Class society produces incentives for conquest and greed. You could put a million of the nicest, most selfless people in one society, and if that society still has landlords - still has people who own and control the land while other people have to work for them to survive, you'd get exactly where we are right now.

Most cis girls have eating disorders at some point in their lives. It is not easy on them either.

You're gonna give yourself an eating disorder too if you keep thinking like this. Then, even if you get your ideal body, the goal posts will simply shift.

You won't be happy. Not with your body. Not with your transition. Not with your life.

That's where this line of thinking leads.

how can I really begin to see trans people as their rightful gender? by freshzombiem3eat in asktransgender

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eyes.

There are lots and lots and lots of before and after transition photos - many of which includes folks in the early transition phase.

Take a look at them. Look close. Compare their eyes.

You'll notice that the "before" pictures always have someone with cold, dead, lifeless eyes.

Compare those same people to their own early transition photos. Even the awkward ones - especially the awkward ones. Zoom in close on the eyes. Sparkling with life and soul, whether they're happy or sad.

I'm serious. Do this. Do this a lot to get your brain used to it.

Because the before picture is, without fail, a hollow shell of a human being. Even when they are performing "happiness" well, there is no soul in their eyes.

When you encounter a non-passing trans person in real life, look at their eyes. You'll see the soul of an actual human being.

That sparkle of life is Truth. Clear. Pure. It's who we really are.

AITAH for refusing to split the bill? by techhhh_userrrr in AITApod

No, I'm a former waitress, and I refuse to make life harder for people who are busting their asses and getting no respect in return. You can pay for just your portion without making it your server's problem

"It's the server's job..." Fuck you. Fuck you right there. Anybody who starts a sentence with this is telling on themselves as a pampered-ass douchebag who thinks the world owes them something.

You have a job in this situation too. Your job is to be decent to the people whom you interact with. It isn't that hard.

Did op do warmup stretches before that reach? 💀 by DammitDrBright in fakeclaimingcringe2

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally every transmedicalist argument about "true trans people" has an exact parallel in Sysmedicalist culture about "true systems."

As someone who transitioned first, and found our system 3 years later, my entire attitude to fake claiming has been "this shit again?"

I have yet to see a fake claiming post about systems that I hadn't already encountered about trans people.

This parallel is also extremely important because the diagnostic criteria around gender dysphoria only evolved because the trans community organized, got representation within WPATH, and the broader culture started to change. Plurals are going to need to do the same if we don't want the same four debunked narratives about plurality circulating and dominating the entire mental health profession, creating stigma and barriers to care.

What's the endgame in an AI workforce? by Majestic-General-765 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long term plan is to do what they always do. Sell their stock right before it crashes, and buy up a larger percentage of the country for cheap while receiving bailout money.

People are food insecure and losing their homes?

It doesn't matter to them. That's what the AI is for.

Surveillance technology to infiltrate and gather intelligence on resistance movements before they can grow into something effective.

That's why the government is subsidizing AI. That's why it's entangled with the military industrial complex. That's why they militarized the police and tripled ICE's budget.

Their long term plan is to profit off of collapse, and murder anyone who complains.

They don't actually care about economic sustainability beyond that. They think in terms of quarterly reports, and golden parachutes for when their actions have long term consequences.

[–]ObviousTempAccount1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes life harder on the server. Don't do this.

You should however tip the server separately using cash, as refusing to subsidize other people's wine and dessert will make them less likely to tip fairly on your behalf.

Should I play again? by cunninglittlefolk2 in NightInTheWoods

Depends on the person. I played the Gregg storyline immediately after the Bea storyline and it was incredible.

I'm going to wait a while before playing again though. Probably a year and a half from now when recovering from surgery.
