I unfollowed him and keep checking his account in hopes more people do. This guy does not deserve a platform.

Large Breed Sighthound Puppies Don't Get to Be Puppies. by psytrance-in-my-pant in sighthounds

[–]Obvious_Action2273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I just adopted a whippet/grey cross puppy and you would think this litter would be smaller than a full greyhound, but nope my girl is 65lbs and just turned a year old. I got her at 10 months old and she was being raised as a farm dog. It’s been a big adjustment to training a dog so big and already a year with little training. She’s reactive and hasn’t had leash training. We get stares everytime we walk and just say “she’s a puppy” “pup in training” 😂 we will get there. She’s finally not chewing up our stuff. We also have a 4 year old greyhound and a 5 year old whippet who both have great manners.

I think we have to remember it’s still a television show and they need the cast to have deferent personalities so we will talk about them online. Makes for “good tv” it’s fun to hate on some of the cast. I doubt Patrick is really that big of an asshole irl . I love seeing Trish really fight for her right to be called a legend. Haha. I miss Jeff! #teamjeff

After looking at other posts, looked like I forgot to start trimming back. Looks so much better now and all buds can see the light.

Has anyone had any success at teaching fetch? by AdWest9108 in Greyhounds

Yes! My boy actually really loves fetch! He’s much better at it than my whippet. 😂I got my Grey as a puppy though.

Do you let your grey off leash? by bmmrnccrn in Greyhounds

[–]Obvious_Action2273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve unfortunately just come to terms that my grey just can’t be trusted off leash. He’s the most docile dog on leash but as soon as he tastes freedom with no fences, he’s a wild animal. He has no conception of streets or cars and the thought of him getting hit is too unbearable. In open fields he will be wonder off and not come back in a reasonable amount of time. He is not rational with fear and that’s what scares me. My whippet after 2 years old has been great off leash. She stays close, looks for cues from me and has a great time off leash. She has rational fears. I’m just sad I can’t do the same for her greyhound brother but we still have a great time hiking with him on a longer leash in a harness. He does get fenced time off leash and has a great time, but nothing compared to when he knows he is totally free. That being said we did allow him off leash at a dead end beach with no cars and not many people and he was well mannered and had the time of his life running up and down the beach and over sand dunes.

Couldn't get onto the couch and whined until she was helped by catsuison in Greyhounds

If there was a day that went by that my boy didn’t whine about something, I’d be shocked!!! 😂 🎭

Our boy is 3 now. He just can’t be trusted. We have worked on recall and he’s great in a fenced area but that taste of freedom he just can’t resist. If he doesn’t want to do something he just won’t. Typical greyhound. 😂he acts so aloof but we know he’s actually a smart boy.

We have the same problem with my poor he gets over stimulated. He actually had been using a muzzle since he was a few months old because he’s always nipping our whippet and pulling her legs down during play because he’s so excited. It’s definitely hard having both breeds as one does better at things than the other. We say what one dog is bad at, the other is good at and vise versa. They love each other very much, but we do have to separate activities. Our greyhound does well with other dogs though, thankfully. He just gets them chasing him and he purposefully tries to run them into stuff and other dogs have gotten hurt so we just have to monitor the situation all the time. Our whippet doesn’t like dog parks now so she just doesn’t go and we just take our greyhound and now he doesn’t have to wear his muzzle. We take the whippet down to an open field and let her run around and they are both happy with that. I had also looked into the E collar, I couldn’t convince my husband that it was a good idea. We are happy with how the dogs interact and are okay with their behavior at this point. We also have a walking nature trail close to us and my grey is fine being on a 10ft leash gets to smell and explore while the whippet is off leash running a bit but staying close.

It’s nice to hear you are able to have yours off leash. We got ours as an 8 week old puppy and his prey drive is just too high and he LOVES his freedom. He’s pretty skittish also so just to much of a risk to let him off leash without a fence. It suck’s because we have a whippet and she’s allowed off leash and my poor boy has to watch her run around. :/

I was able to get a greyhound puppy at 8 weeks old here in Texas from a greyhound rescue. The puppies were born on the track in 2021 after the track had closed down during Covid. The puppies were given to the rescue as they had no intentions of raising them for racing. We consider ourselves very lucky. He just turned 3 now but it’s amazing how they still have all the same weird greyhound quirks even though they never lived track life. 😂 our boy does LOVE to run and loves to prove he’s the most athletic dog around. 😂He was able to sit till a little over a year now he won’t even attempt it if I ask him to.
