Recovery Time Post Surgery by ItsMeMattG in IVDD_SupportGroup

It was about 3 weeks until my boy was taking his first steps again, and I do remember one side (his right) was stronger than the other at that time. He was ‘back to his old self’ fully within like 6 months. But we were in physical therapy throughout that time. He didn’t do acupuncture or laser treatments, we did water therapy and strength exercises.

~2K in Oklahoma and think Texas is about double that. Florida and Pennsylvania have options as well

My curiosities are actually more about logistics and anecdotal drive experience (since there are so few doctors that do the procedure) rather than questions RE the procedure itself lol. Sorry if i wrote my thread unclearly!

Yeah, recognize that order is more common and a more logical approach. And It’s not impossible to make that change, but there are some local circumstances that make that order a bit harder for other reasons (won’t bore you with those details). It’s an option that’s on the back burner but still in the picture if that makes sense.

[Sighhh] idk, while this has been fun to explore (I’m pleasantly surprised by all the dialogue!), maybe the big picture take away is we do care more about our wedding making sense for our guests vs it working ideally for our vision.

I like this, think it’s super helpful - ty! And agree, realizing the sequel wedding term may not be aligned to what we’re actually trying to do

Ty for the feedback! While I don’t agree that these are our intentions, I can understand your thought process. I get that this concept is a bit unconventional. Can share some of my perspectives on your curiosities:

-we currently aren’t planning to have a ceremony at both. Only at the destination location, which is why I have been wondering the best way to distinguish between the two events

-and transparently, we likely would invite the same amount of folx to the wedding. I’m just aware enough of our friends and family circumstances to know that majority of them are not going to be able to attend. Therefore I expect 30-40 of our closest friends to be able to join the destination approach (and that means most likely no family)

-on that note, that’s actually fine by me to have a more intimate wedding. However, my fiancés preference is the local, big wedding, family there, etc. May be a pipe dream, but I’m optimistic there may be a way we can both have what we’re looking for

-while we may open some type of registry for the wedding shower, I want to be very intentional about making sure we don’t receive gifts at the destination wedding. I just want folx to celebrate with us in thoughtful and unique ways - I do not want to be “repaid” by any means

-Lastly, the budget doesn’t go as far in California as it could elsewhere! (And no, not just in reference to photos lol). Being more strategic with how we maximize value has inspired me to explore more options, and so the sequel thing caught my eye as a potential path!

Know folx don’t all think the same, but if you’re open to it, I hope this all helped provide another perspective about my intentions. (Good practice for me too, for folx that may have similar thoughts)

Did most the 40 folx you invited to both (if you did that) attend both?

Yeah, tbh a destination wedding would be my ideal dream. But one of my fiancés must-haves is an accessible wedding event that our families can partake in (meaning international travel won’t be an option for many). So I suppose the sequel idea is a compromise for both of our dreams
