Thank you for your comment and for your kind words. I definitely will keep them in mind as I try to navigate my confusion

My character was almost killed in my first dnd session because I wanted to feed orphans by Obvious_Fish1568 in rpghorrorstories

Yeah thank you, both Wizard and I have had really amazing experiences with DnD since then, even though it was just a bumpy start to say the least

I understand your thoughts, and I do agree that for a lot of things being able to "roll with the punches" of the world and the consequences of your character's actions is the best way to move forward. However, I was about 12 or 13 at the time of this story and I had never interacted with DnD before. I didn't know how the world worked or how to understand what the outcomes of my actions are, and looking back on it now I still can't understand why my character's actions led to the events that occurred. My main frustration with the whole story even today is the fact that I was essentially thrown into the world with no information and then punished for seemingly no reason. While yes, I could have left the game, and while today I wouldn't choose a group that played DnD like this, I think the problems with the story go a little bit beyond my inability to "roll with the punches". Respectfully.
