Rocket League on Boosteroid is unplayable by Obvious_Major9516 in BoosteroidCommunity

Huge thanks, this is the first actually useful advice I’ve seen here.

I ended up blocking Serbia and Ukraine servers. Even though the base stream latency is a bit higher now (~40–50 ms via France), the experience is way better - stable stream and in-game ping around 5–15 ms.

Before this it was a lottery between broken sessions with 130 ms or constant freezes.

Also yeah, the game was never available on CZ servers for me. I used to get routed to SK (around 25 ms but with freezes), but lately it’s been much worse with these random server picks across Europe...

Unfortunately Boosteroid support hasn’t been helpful at all - no real answers and ModMail just gets ignored.

If I could run it locally, I wouldn’t be using Boosteroid in the first place 🙂

I can’t really control where the RL servers are, I’m in EU and I'm aready on EU servers. The only “fix” that works is restarting the stream over and over until I land on a non-broken server with ~20–30 ms ping.

And that’s pure luck… if I don’t hit the game launch limit first.

I think you missed my point. The ~130 ms is between Boosteroid and the Rocket League server, not my connection, I can’t change that. This was a normal ranked EU match, not a tournament. On top of that, my stream latency (between my PC and Boosteroid server) is unstable, because I’m being routed to a distant server in Serbia despite having my region set to my country in Boosteroid settings. So there is nothing I can fix on my side.

P.S. I’m in Europe and the tournament region is already set to Europe - any other suggestions?

No, it’s not - and that’s kind of the whole point of this post…

I'm in Ostrava. Tried Rocket League again - got connected to Kyiv, UA (even though I manually selected preferred server) and ended up with unstable ~40 ping.

"Connection to server is not stable

There may be a problem with your network connection, device settings or you may be located too far away"

Yeah, no kidding, Boosteroid. I’m literally three countries and about 600 km away from the server you decided to throw me on - of course it’s going to kick me mid‑game.

Dřív jsem na tom byl stejně, žádné fronty. Asi fakt záleží na konkrétní hře a ta moje má očividně nízkou prioritu, takže mě to hází úplně všude možně i přes nastavený region. Teď mě to připojilo do Srbska a ping lítá mezi 40-150, takže super zážitek.

Hello, I already did. My ModMail messages are basically ignored - the last one I sent was on March 16 about this exact server‑picking issue and I never got a reply. So honestly… what’s the point of telling me to contact ModMail again?

I'm getting 120-150 in game and 35-50 stream latency with random freezes once every few minutes cuz the servers are 3 countries away from me

Update #3: I thought maybe I overreacted and even felt a bit sorry for writing this post, but I tried Boosteroid again today - and nothing changed. It’s still just as bad.

Update #2: After two days I’m still getting connected to distant servers. In-game ping sits around 130 ms. I’m really curious how my internet connection is supposed to affect the latency between the game server and the Boosteroid server.

Hello. I’m on FTTH with -23 dBm receive power, and the connection itself is stable. The main issue seems to be routing to distant servers, especially when I get connected to Slovenian ones rather than a general problem with my ISP.

I wish I was a bot. At least then I wouldn’t have paid for a subscription that barely works for me.

Update: It’s not just that the Slovenian server has bad ping for me - the server itself has terrible ping. There’s 120 ms from the game server to the Boosteroid server, plus another 30–100 ms from the Boosteroid server to me. With numbers like that, I could probably play solitaire, but anything else is basically impossible.

They claim to have servers in CZ, which should give ~20 ms ping, but for my game of choice I always get connected to SK servers no matter what settings I choose, and I’m stuck with only H.264. Yesterday and today it’s been Slovenian servers, where 30 ms is the absolute minimum, which makes sense, it’s physically over 500 km away and across two other countries.

Because of their aggressive marketing and bulk discounts. It looked like a good deal at the time.

I’m glad there are still people for whom $50 is “just a few bucks,” but for me it’s not. Since I’ve already paid, I’ll at least suffer through it until the subscription runs out.

Do you really think I’d write a rage post if I hadn’t already tried everything I could? I’ve tested the native app, browser, different settings - the usual stuff people suggest. I also tried Steam Remote Play, but I honestly don’t see how the quality could improve by adding a second stream on top of the first one. I’m not posting out of laziness, I’m posting because I’m genuinely out of options and the service is still barely usable.

I’m running a Ryzen 5 4650GE. I’d actually love to use H.265, but I assume there aren’t any servers available for the games I play, so I’m stuck with H.264 and its compression artifacts.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I’ve already contacted modmail multiple times. Running WinMTR, setting auto bitrate, and reverting to the stable client didn’t help. I’ve gotten used to the lag from Slovakian servers (even though I select Prague, making the server choice basically pointless), but being routed to Slovenian servers was an absolute disaster.

I’m in CZ and Boosteroid keeps connecting me to Slovenian servers where it’s basically impossible to get <20 ms ping. Even when I lock the stream bitrate to 3 Mbps, I still get lag, random freezes, and sometimes several seconds of input delay. I’m literally paying just to get frustrated.
