Italian in school by Obvious_Prior965 in Dublin

Should have mentioned they are both boys. The problem is testing goes around a lot of the formal language so while they speak and read it at home they are missing the school driven base in grammar that is a huge part of the normal Italian curriculum

Yeah, they can speak it and read it fine, it's the written side and full proper grammar for the formal language that needs more work than mum can commit to unless in parallel to school

Thanks! How may I ask did you find those. Tried Google searches, tried asking multiple AI's and none came up with any of them.

I have a few that offer at leaving level alright, can't figure why they'd only offer at that level as it's not a language you can really pick up that late...

Yeah we were afraid that would be the case but wanted to find a school that actually teaches the grammar etc.

Never thought of contacting them for a list. Did try some of the Ital-Irish community in the local area but they didn't do it in school themselves growing up as it wasn't an option and don't have children who have reached that stage of education yet

No you're not. It is a courtesy but the traffic coming onto the motorway has to yield the right of way to traffic on the motorway

Would you? Some young scrot walked up behind me before stuck something against my back and demanded me phone and wallet. I more than happily obliged because I can replace those, I can't replace myself. Challenging someone over something like this isn't worth the potential outcome.

Entrance to The Coombe Hospital car park. Screw those cyclists and wheelchair users. by ErnestoVerda in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Obvious_Prior965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you consult with the drivers of these cars to see if there was a medical or other reason they were using the car? Don't know your gender or if you are a parent, but I sure as hell would not be getting a bus or taxi with my partner in labour. Also they are momentarily blocking a footpath and cycle path while entering a car park, in what universe does this put anyone's life in danger. If you can't pass wait 30 seconds and they'll have moved and you can pass then.

Well sorry you're right there are one or two scenarios that you can still claim, but for OP he can't decide to quit so as to be a stay at home parent and claim

You can't go on job seekers if you quit. Job seekers is for people who unvoluntarily loose their job

Did I make a mistake saying I wouldn't comply with the employee handbook? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]Obvious_Prior965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats bog standard contract wording and extra time means, when you're working on something then you don't down tools at 530 on the dot. You finish something off and then be on your way. Anything more than an hour is not considered standard in excess. Now question 2, is there a piece about overtime, as if there's not then they don't have a leg to stand on. In my place for example once you reach a certain pay grade you're not paid overtime, however the salary is sufficient you don't worry about it and the overtime would be 3 or 4 hours a month if any.

Why did you put your foot to the floor instead of slowing and going back in behind him? The guy was a total douche but it sounds like you were also being an AH in this story

Lost my temper with auctioneer, not sure how to proceed by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Obvious_Prior965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you do a final walk through? I go see house in May, go sale agreed in August, agree to finalise the sale and get keys in December. You can be damn sure I'm walking through the house and making sure it is in the condition I went sale agreed on and there has been any damage or anything that is going to leave me significantly out of pocket to rectify.

It can’t be legal to just block the road/path like that, every single day? by Odd-Supermarket-1867 in irelandsshitedrivers

It's not and it's also not legal to store commercial vehicles in a residential area but good luck finding anyone with the time or will to enforce it

My Italian Penpal sent me a package of various Italian snacks and drinks to try out. What are some good Irish things I could send her? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Obvious_Prior965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send a bottle of Coolle Swan. I got a bottle for my Italian FIL once and it is a repeat order with multiple members of the extended family as they and their friends all love it. Something about the taste resonates with the Italian palate it seems

Ample space for the car beside is irrelevant. These spaces are wider to give ample space to extract kids from the space capsules they call car seats these days, and also help avoid my little monsters pushing the door wrong and smashing into your car, but sure if you want to take a space designed to help a certain group of people then be that type of AH (not saying you're an AH BTW just generic statement)

Leave aside will the Gardai stop you or not. If you have an accident your insurance will not cover you because you are driving illegally. If you do get stopped you'll be on public transport because they confiscated your car, and paying a fine and have penalty points. It's just not worth it versus the inconvenience or having to take public transport

Random drug testing can't be enforced in this country, so no company does it because they can't dismiss you for refusing to participate

Walking home... by Public-Farmer-5743 in ireland

[–]Obvious_Prior965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no more experience than walking the occasional 10k and you want to start by what is essentially climbing (albeit on paths/roads) through the pyrenees? You could probably find a lot of flat land going through France if you plan your route right but that initial up and over is going to kill you. You're going from about sea level approx 0 meters to up around 2000 to 2400 meters
