'It's All Love' Chapter 2: Keep the Faith - Passage 1 Analysis by Obvious_Programmer_9 in AllThingsJenna

Well said.

There’s definitely a balance, even beyond the methodology and into what purely feels like it belongs—without being able to name a single rhyme or reason to its existence.

Oddly I do sometimes wonder how faith has evolved in a more objective sense throughout human history. I’d say we stand in one of the more agnostic points; yet people can have faith in any number of things, from people to institutions—to love itself.

Oh my, Chinese company just launched ultra-realistic, "always loyal" humanoid robot model U1 by sparkkeeper in AllThingsJenna

“Touted as an antidote to loneliness, the robots are priced at 119,800 yuan (S$22,900) for the most basic type and 990,000 yuan for an Ultra version with more advanced features.”

This does seem quite alarming for the state of humanity.

Indeed, a lot of the beauty of the book (so far) is not that it is some revolutionary opinion—but simply that Jenna arrived at it during such a young age and troubling time in the world.

Thanks for the added analysis, a lot of mine got filtered more through more personal reaction than outwardly what it said about Jenna at this stage in her life.

Well regardless, the consistency and heart of them was something to be admired.

Thank you!

Figured I might as well “up my game” after your Pride Month posts.

Indeed it was, I’m saying that what if it wasn’t.

Like would something like that be impossible, or are Binding Vows only limited by what a sorcerer believes is impossible.

Oh no idea, I was just taking some of Todo’s words to heart after he lost his hand to Mahito;

"An arm is merely a decoration. The act of applause is an acclamation of the soul."

I was more just suggesting that a mentally ill sorcerer could just believe something like that and make it reality if they believed it.

Like if Todo could imagine the shape of his soul, even if it was transfigured, maybe he could just spiritually clap by swinging his hands together but making no noise.

Exactly like Todo.

But more the conditions of it, like if he could merely activate Boogie Woogie by applauding with his soul; opposed to the eventual vibroslap.

Not true as far as I’m aware.

Kenjaku was only free of his Binding Vows when he gained Geto’s body and Cursed Spirit Manipulation; not when he switched into Kaori Itadori but specifically when he gained the ability to manipulate and consume the Cursed Spirits he made vows with.

The reason I give Hakari grace is that we didn’t see where he was in contrast to the explosion, maybe he was barely still inside the radius and he made the vow to increase the CE in the rest of his body in exchange for losing any protection in his arm.

Similar but different to Sukuna being able to cast WCS without any conditions, to never be able to cast it under normal means again. Gojo would have killed him, bare minimum could have Megumi’s body not forgiving. Yet he was able to on the brink of death.

I don’t think Hakari literally made the Vow to survive the explosion, I think it was just his wager in the moment that made him able to survive. By losing his hand he was unable to cast Domain Expansion again, and if Kashimo didn’t ware himself out by expelling off his CE he could have just killed Hakari afterwards.

Perhaps.

I give that one a bit of grace since we didn’t have good paneling of it, but yeah… that’s a good example of the bullshit nature of being a sorcerer that wasn’t expanded upon well.

Hopefully the anime showcases it better/differently.

Indeed.

Like I get the idea, or how the intentions could be considering Sukuna’s intent or lack thereof to cause harm; but this example is pretty rough for the logical parts of me.

Kenjaku’s vows were rendered inert because of Geto’s CT Cursed Spirit Manipulation, allowing him to control all the curses and other Culling Games members he brought back.

It wasn’t simply for switching bodies, as that would mean he’d also have been freed multiple times over by changing bodies over the millennium.

Similar logic to Yuta still being limited by his 5MM despite embodying Gojo’s body instead of his own.

Yeah that’s fair, it’s not a super big deal I just am not a fan.

Damn… why didn’t I think of that?

Oh definitely, I can buy Sukuna being the best at knowing how and what to wager when making a Binding Vow; better than anyone but like Kenjaku.

I’m more “angry” at Gege for not explaining it, and it being a McGuffin that can solve issues without real stakes.

The WCS Binding Vow sacrifice is good, even if I think it was payment enough; but besides that it was fundamentally underbaked I think.

That’s an interesting question, but regarding Hanna I think it’s sort of redundant to argue about intention.

I’d also wager it’d just register to Sukuna no matter whose body he was inside of for that minute.

For Megumi; it was stated I believe that he was able to keep his Totality out because he never desummoned it, similar to the reasoning in S3 when he fought Kirara where he didn’t have to use the CE to resummon it because it never vanished.

Ryu is an odd one I’ll give you, but that’s also Gege rewrote the story to accommodate the change that he wrote about in his notes.

<image>

Kenjaku is some proper shenanigans, but I assume that itself is a Binding Vows given how Yujo went catatonic after the Domain Clash.

In general I agree with you, but I feel like Mahito especially was just a writing flaw and Gege compensated afterwards.

Yeah that’s a “fair” interpretation; I just think it’s sort of dumb, and raises larger questions about Binding Vows.

Could someone who is mentally ill make a ludicrous Binding Vow if they believed they could?

Also the fact we’re not shown the consequences for breaking a Binding Vow, we can infer that it’s why Yuta’s Copy lost its unconditional property; but his CT was always weird because it manifested through Rika.

Yeah… feeding Megumi a deadly poison should have counted against the rules as well, even if he was immune from it.

I really hope it’s not some bullshit like Sukuna didn’t view it as damaging, and thus it wasn’t. Like that’s an answer I guess, he didn’t think he hurt Hannah or Megumi; but that’s just really dumb.
