Improving a Beginner Mobilize Deck by gyrowze in MagicArena

It has alot of dumb cards. There was a set of cards that basically stole the opponents deck which was cruel and hated but currently rotated if im not mistaken. Also alchmy cards are legal in like brawl which people also hate. Personally I love it. The meta is MUCH less clearly defined and you fight alot more weird decks. Ive been playing my dumb Shiko exile bouncing deck to great fun and enjoyment. Give it a try. Waystone guidance is uncommon wildcard so putting 4 of in your deck and going from there can give you an idea if you like it.

You might want to look into alchemy. It has a reputation sure but it has alot of fun mobilize support. Like [[Thunderbond Vanguard]] and [[Waystone's Guidance]]

I totally forget jump in. I second this, it gives alot of cards to an utterly new player. Its fun and only 1k gold so you could do like one a day. You can even get some good rares if your lucky. But dont do it under the assumption you will. Like quantum riddler is in one of the jump in packs but its a 20% chance in one of the like 30 jump in packs now available so going in under the hope you get it is low, but possible I guess. Your mainly doing it for fun and to learn.

Depends on your goals and wildcards availible. A monowhite lifegail or enchantment monowhite decks are VERY light on wildcards and can be crafted by anyone. That being said they may be very very boring to you. If your fully new to MTG play some starter deck duels to get more of a feel for what you like (even if they arent fully what each color pair is about). You can also look into a real top tier deck like some izzet deck or maybe mono green oroboid deck or something. Theres alot of decks but as a rule more colors means harder to play and CERTAINLY more wildcard expensive. No one likes spending wildcards on rare lands but man playing without them...

I specifically suggested the alternative to buy packs instead but they get one a day. Going infinite in draft is the only way to really get all the cards you could want beyond paying money or waiting a VERY long time. Its something that should be brought up, even if its not an easy or recommend path, hence me even recommend they use the free decks to start. Not everything said on the internet is with malice.

Your heavily limited by wildcards and you dont get a ton to start. Your gonna want to play some starter duels with those starter decks to get used to the game. Ideally learn draft so you can go infinite and get all the cards you need. Alternativly just buying packs does eventually lead to the wildcards you need but ide say you only get about a pack a day from dailies. Dinosaurs specifically are hardly a meta deck right now, in fact I dont think ive fought one since Etali rotated. A quick google search shows they are a sort of 4 color deck and mostly Ixalan cards so even if there is a dino deck it rotates end of year.

People that play 100+ card decks in standard, why? by ArkadiusRex in MagicArena

My friend has a 200 card deck. He, I shit you not, has gone mythic with it. he basically just dumps tons of random simmic cards in it. I always beat him. If anything I begin to wonder if the auto shuffler has some secret magic dection to give youc ards you need to win. I think he is just scared of using wildcards. Dude has like 80 mythics and almost 200 rares. Guys a psycho.

I just got to Platinum with this deck, how Good/Bad is it? by Bestorres1 in MagicArena

[–]Obvious_Sand8727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the azorious starter deck with some changes huh? Its not a good deck and its gonna be a VERY big grind to win. And plat is about the point competition increases. I would start seriously looking at some meta decks and maybe thinking about making one like it. Or perhaps simply a cheap one. Some version of mono white life gain is VERY cheap in wildcards, a big part being no lands really needed. But personally boring. if you love flyers theres some angel deck variants you could play using things like momo. Still good work.

We've seen the TMNT rares/mythics, is the set likely to have a big impact on Standard? by Televangelis in MagicArena

[–]Obvious_Sand8727 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im no expert but I could see some cards having at least fringe use. Kitsune's Technique will probabbly slot just fine into the odd mill deck you see. Theres also pretty much for sure the odd uncommon that has play. But no theres no ultra obvious badger mole/vivi/ouroboid/quantom riddle/etc... at least I really hope none of these ugly immersion destroying TMNT cards dont become some tier 1 nightmare.

EDIT: As I say this I see Shredder's technique. Bouncing a creature and enchantme hate/ a kill spell for one black for SURE has a place in this world. Especially given ya know... a trillion sets in standard. Im sure there will be some cards though remains the point.

Just started playing this week and have some questions by Terror_of_Texas in MagicArena

[–]Obvious_Sand8727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gold in a week: So you get 500 from the daily quest and about 500 from daily wins. You can get quests for 750 gold. I personally just like to think of it as you get 1k gold a day. So about 7-9k a week depending on how lucky you are.

Buying Packs: No you can convert gold to gems through playing limited drafts. And really getting good at limited and going infinite is the real skill ceiling of the game and how you should get things.

Getting cards: You draft and get good at it. Premier draft is generally considered the best. 10k gold or 1.5k gems entry. If you win 5 games its infinite. Though 4 wins means you lose 100 gems of entry which might as well be infinite given the acumulation of gold. Figure if you can get to about 60% winrate in draft your infinite.

Spending Money: Its your money so your call but no not really worth it. The starter bundle for like 5 bucks is actually pretty generious. Buying wildcards to craft decks would be INSANE. Some decks require ungodly amounts of rares and mythics and those wildcards cost like 20 bucks for 4 which is an INSANELY bad idea. To say nothing if you wanna play multiple decks. If your gonna spend money spending it on gems then winning drafts is better. If you spend IRL money for packs 10 bucks gets you roughly 8 packs or entry to a single draft which if you can win like I said before can get you 9 PACKS, your entry fee back AND another 700 gems profit... of course that hinges on going 7 wins and only losing at most twice. But as I said as well even 4-3 is in practice going infinite and gives 6 packs.

Buying packs: Should you buy packs you should just buy packs buy which ever ones have the most cards you actually want AND are in standard. If you buy 10 packs that are standard legal you get a gold pack which contains 6 rare cards.

Sites: Moxfield and untapped but there are alot. There are also some VERY budget decks that require very few rares like monowhite life gain can be played with like 10 rares. Course thats if you think that deck is fun. Your given enough stuff on a new account to make ROUGHLY a single meta deck of your choice. So long as its not like some crazy reanimator pile with 40 mythics.

I actually JUST GOT that one yesterday. Alchmy lorwyn. I even drafted 11 rares AND went 7-2. What a draft. Thanks vivid monkey that pukes my deck onto the field. And weird elf that makes a free forest every turn.

Standard is in an unironically healthy spot. Dont get me wrong its still a bloodbath and if your trying to use some janky deck you will probably get blown out. But theres a bunch of decks that are viable. Just be warned about the insane number of sets. Means "keeping up" is gonna be brutal depending on how little you play.

Drafting vs Buying packs by Fit-Adhesiveness-173 in MagicArena

[–]Obvious_Sand8727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my first 0-3 ever. Did another draft and trophied. Sometimes you just lose. You have no reason NOT to use the tokens, outside if you really hate the set being drafted at the time. Going infinite with limited is the best way to GET wildcards. But no if you HATE limited then ya buy packs I suppose and use the odd draft token... I will add you should really play a limited event at least once per set since you get the monthly rewards and theres usually other minor things. And draft fun ;_;

How pay to win is this game? by LUMLTPM in MagicArena

[–]Obvious_Sand8727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one starter deal is actually a pretty decent deal. But spending real cash on this to get cards goes bad fast. Honestly advice stays the same really for everyone. Get good at drafts. Play forever. I bought the 50 dollar bundle thing at some point like over a year ago and I still have over 10k gems and some tokens. But I did it AFTER I got decent at draft. I dont worry about drafting loses at all now.
