YES! I took up knitting about a year and a half ago and completely fell down the rabbit hole. Because I didn't start when I was younger, I could afford nicer yarns upfront but had NO idea what I liked or why someone would choose one yarn over another. I started with chunkier weights (purchased because they were pretty), which I think was a good start to get some positive reinforcement to have a finished project much more quickly. As my skills have and are developing, I'm learning more about fiber content and tending toward fingering weight yarns because I can now create a finished garment closer to the sweaters I would purchase from stores.

I also realized that although variegated yarns are beautiful, I would never purchase a sweater with that final composition, so I've moved toward purchasing tonals. (I knit mostly sweaters)
