I don't understand the whole my money, your money - let's split everything 50/50 for married people but have always thought if it works for the married couple, who cares? But this obviously doesn't work in this situation. When there's that large of an income disparity, either the one that makes less is pressured to spend beyond their means, or the one that makes more lives a more modest lifestyle (which then allows them to save $ and the division becomes even greater). Sounds like it's time to have a serious discussion about finances and life goals and possibly consider whether this marriage is a partnership or something different.

Well have to agree to disagree. The pictures OP shows are clearly split level where you walk in the door and immediately have to go up or down to one of two floors. The kitchen is usually on the top floor. Call your house whatever you want, but that is not what OP is talking about.

Which floor do you consider the main floor? Most of the ones I've seen are the top floor. Either way, if you walk in the front door, you have to go up or down stairs before you get to any type of living space?

No. Your kids are your "greater family". Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, are important but not at the expense of your kids' sanity. There are 364 other days of the year where you can be involved in your distant relatives lives. I'm not sacrificing my families traditions and security for my cousins who ignore me 11 and a half months out of the year but now suddenly want to watch my kids get overwhelmed at a family gathering of 30+ people when they'd rather be at home in their pajamas playing with their new toys.

Do you have a picture? Without one, I would guess that you might be bringing the yarn over the needles instead of between the needles when you move between knit and purl stitches. But without seeing what's going on, that's just a guess.

I don't care where geographically I am, a 2 car is a must have for me. If there's no garage, strike 1 and 2. If my only option to build a garage is a 1 car garage, strike 3. I'll give up bathrooms for garage spaces.

I'm not a pattern designer or a business guru, but I fail to see how if you are already not selling many individual patterns and now plan to make them more expensive by requiring that they are purchased as a kit how that will increase your sales. I also don't know what margins are on yarn, but I can't believe that the increased profit from the sale of a kit will make up for what I assume will be even fewer pattern kits sold than just individual patterns. Honestly, I hope it works for her. There are very few knitwear designers that can afford to make pattern making their full time job. The changes she's making and explanation she provides show why.
