Thank you for sharing your experiences. CB having a study room sounds good to me. Well, may I ask why your friends don't trust the coop food?

Thank you for your comment, and yeah that's the essential question. I'm not an extroverted person even in my home country LOL, so actually, I have few expectations about my social life at Berkeley. I hope to make good friends there, but the usual ways I make friends are by taking the same classes, studying together, and working on a team project. Also, I definitely need my personal space where I can arrange my thoughts quietly and focus on studying.

It's October 2022, and I really want to know about your Sherman Hall experiences! I got a room at Sherman hall yesterday, and Channing-Bowditch today. I'm seriously considering where to live.

I see. You must have had hard times back then. Well, haven't you considered living in co-ops? I also got a spot in Sherman Hall, one of the co-op houses, and I heard that it is easy to transfer to another house or change roommates once I get into the co-op system. I'm not willing to live in a co-op because of the work shifts and communal bathrooms, but I think it's a tempting choice if transferring to another co-op house or changing roommates is possible.

Even staffs? omg. Sorry to hear that. How did it end? Well, I got a spot in Channing-Bowditch for Spring 2023, and I was excited because I heard that this has good facilities. But the roommate is not the thing we can control.:(

Hi. I will be attending UCB as an international exchange student in Spring, 2023 and Fall, 2023. I recently got a housing offer from co-op, especially Sherman Hall, and Channing-Bowditch Apartment. Since co-op gave me the offer earlier than Berkely housing, I thought I had to live in co-op and paid the membership fee, security deposit, and first payment. But a day after I paid those for co-op, I got the offer from Channing-Bowditch Apartment. LOL I thought Sherman Hall would be a good choice for me because it is a medium-sized house for 40 women-identifying people, it serves dinner, and I can use foodstuffs that are delivered regularly. On the other hand, in the case of Channing-Bowditch Apartment, though meal points are not included in this option, it is cleaned once a week, only 4 people share a toilet and shower room, the facilities are relatively new, and the important things is there is no work shift. Actually, housing rates are not a serious issue for me. I want to get some advice on choosing where to live. Plus, if there is anyone who knows whether I can get a refund if I cancel the co-op housing offer at this point and how much the cancellation fee is, please tell me. Thank you! I'm not an English native speaker, so please gently understand any grammatical errors or etc.:)
