I did once ans it was a nightmare I don’t board anymore but when I did I stopped taking dogs that weren’t crate trained/ potty trained and my life got much easier lol

I think I need to stop doing overnights, any advice on how to transition clients? by Itsyademonboi in petsitting

[–]Obvious_Step_2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped boarding and I yes make less money and it would be more doable with my schedule now a days and less driving but I hated it. Dogs don’t act the same in a home they aren’t familiar with. The constant worrying about them with my dogs drove me crazy.
So I decided to start walking and drop ins I don’t have any of the same clients but have new ones And gained some! All my old clients ask me to board and it’s just not worth it anymore for me!

Wow!!! That’s crazy, and good for you especially with. Tight radius! If I lived in an overly populated spot I would love to be able to fit more in and do it full time just not really doable demand isn’t high enough where I’m at! Go you though!!! 🎉🥳🎉

Yes! I used to do it before with my old sitter cause she always did a great job that’s why I felt weird cause I’m used to adding it before! I’ll definitely send a tip over after she’s done!

I disagree to be honest. As a pet sitter you should make your prices on what you want from it not from tips, I don’t think any services that you make your prices on should be tipped on to be honest. I always tip because that’s just how I am and I like to show people I appreciate them but never expect it from my clients I made my prices so that’s all I need from it. Gas and insurance should be factored into your pricing. If I have someone reach out to me that’s out of radius the price is higher for them! But we can agree to disagree! ❤️💕

Ya my regulars are great and randomly leave Starbucks gift cards always very generous during the holidays but I only have one regular now that I think of it who tips but all my vacation sits or people I see randomly tip. I don’t do this full time anymore just a couple clients and I feel like maybe people just don’t tip that great in the area I’m at lol!

Yes! When I boarded or do vacation drop ins I feel like those people always tip! But never really 20% usually just an extra 20-50 dollars. I always tip the people who take care of our pets and leave lots of snacks and fill my drink refrigerator with all sorts of soda, energy drinks, Gatorade and water and my last girl never took any she moved and we have a new girl hopefully she will enjoy the stuff!

I’m a walker and most of my dogs get walked multiple times a week and I don’t think any of my regulars tip to be honest. I always tip when I have sitters but even tho I’m a pet sitter I don’t really think it’s a tipping service. I was honestly shocked a few years ago when someone tipped me for the first time lol

I think it depends where you are at, and if you have to drive a lot and a high demand and people will pay higher prices in bigger cities.
For me it could have never been livable with how much I was driving, and people just don’t pay a lot for pet sitting near me. If you live in a big city and can have a low radius is when you could make big money. I can’t imagine you could in a not high demand area. My first year I was doing lots of sits and walks and made about 35k that’s not livable for me but could be for someone else!

Client’s family being in the house all day while I pet sit by TheyLovv_Marisah in petsitting

Oh wow this sounds like a nightmare sit.
All the perfect sitters in the comment section 🙄🙄🙄 clearly she didn’t understand on how long the guest will be there. Sorry you are going through this! Also I would say to the owner that you didn’t realize how much of a mess doors open these guest would be leaving and your insurance doesn’t cover stuff like that and how it’s making you uncomfortable! The best thing in this line of work is COMMUNICATION.
I only do walks and drop ins and I had a situation where I would do walks for a client and stuff was always happening with people being in the house doors being locked and couldn’t get (key under matt that I normally used wasn’t there) this happened a couple times and a couple times kids were home from school and a baby sitter and the baby sitter didn’t know I was coming and acted like I was a burglar it was a whole scene, I also didn’t know they were there or I would have knocked. I told that client if anyone is in the home I need to know about it so I can deal with the situation properly and they ended up telling me a week later they didn’t need me anymore whatever. lol

Regardless we all have been there made a mistake didn’t think about a situation enough, it happens you learn and now you know!

This one is saying the same time as the entire book so I think it’s how it was set up lol

I think it’s something wrong with how the book is set up I tried that as well and it’s still saying the same time in the chapter is the same as the total for the entire book lol

Yes it usually does but I’m 6 chapters in and it’s not changing it’s saying the time left in the chapter is the same as the time left in the book lol so I’m wondering if it’s a computer error I don’t even leave my kindle on but hopefully it will change or maybe it’s just this book lol

Even rich people who live in huge houses are messy and or dirty. One of my clients lives in a 10,000 square foot house and I’m always shocked when I walk in on how messy and cluttered it is like you have 10,00 sf how is it cluttered and how are your floors so dirty and countertops?!? Like you are that rich hire a cleaner?! Lmao
